can, but in my opinion, it’s typically not a good idea to
start learning languages that are very similar, like Spanish and Italian, at the same time because it’s very easy to confuse the two and it’ll often slow down progress. However, if you really want to, you could always try it and drop the one you’re less interested in when or if you need to.
I prefer learning one language for at least a few months before adding another. After you have a handle on Spanish or Italian, the other shouldn’t cause much trouble. Of course, different things work for different people.
