Why, thank you Jakki", but it’s starting to look like a lot of hard work for no return. Trying to get answers from Amazon/Kindle is a thankless task at best, and I fully expect that, if I used their sales inquiry e mail for any other of the problems I’ve had with their site, I’d just get another auto “one size fits all” response.
There’s some weird stuff happening, like the way I can edit some of my publishings, but not others. Then there’s the languages accepted: Arab is fine, for e books, but not Hebrew, nor Urdu (thought it is obviously from the same root as Arab) but Hindi’s fine.
Then there’s the requirement for the Japanese market that one must provide phonetic versions (why) of all the various inputs, but then won’t recognise them (regardless of which of the major types used). Then I tried to do it in a bilingual English/Japanese version, and that went through with no trouble! What a laugh!
Then there’s the suspect omission; there is no counter telling authors of any sales; wouldn’t you think that was a no brainer? Presumably, they do count these… or do they just do a finger in the air “how much shall we pay out this month, and to whom?” After all, who would know?
The one good thing that’s come out of this is that I’m now adept at using translation software. A pity it wasn’t available when I was long term unemployed!
