Pete Hegseth is a known alcoholic.

No it is not my denomination. I am Church of Christ.

Why is it so important to represent this one particular sect when you don't believe/embrace all that they hold?

I mean it seems to me religions can be pretty pic'n'mix. Also being expected to make more compromises to secure a better paid job over a lessor paid but more lax one is hardly a revelation.

I want to represent the Church of Christ because I believe the vast majority of its doctrine. However I think they lie and teach falsehood about alcohol. Also because I was raised in it and its the denomination I agree with the most. I believe the Bible does not condemn drinking in moderation but they do.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not actively looking for work as a preacher, but it's a bit difficult if you don't come from a prestigious seminary/bible college. Some of th greatest evangelist never gone to Seminary i.e Charles Spuergeon. If God is calling you to preach, things will happen.

So I take it Protestant churches don't require preachers to be celibate the way Catholic churches do?

I am not protestant but restorationist. However to answer your question reverends in the Church of Christ are pretty much required to be married so its the opposite of the Catholic priests in that way.

Disclaimer: I am not a Christian, however not knowing what your thing is with alcohol, I would suggest maybe pray to God to let you quit drinking. Could lead to an epiphany. Then your path forward might become clear. You can’t let something like alcohol rule your life.

I have no desire to ever quit drinking. I never get drunk...I always drink in moderation and do most of my drinking at home. Jesus turned water into alcohol so i think I should be allowed by the church to drink in moderation because then even Jesus would be sinning by their standard. Alcohol does not rule my life.
