I should mention my gut issues.

I've had problems with GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) that was actually diagnosed by a allergist like 11 years ago. I've had sinus problems my entire life like allergic & non-allergic rhinitis & postnasal drip. The allergist thought my postnasal drip was due to GERD & prescribed me Pepcid/Famotidine. Pepcid didn't majorly help my postnasal drip because that's caused by my sinus issues but a couple other things improved. I used to get hiccups like a couple times a week that would last like five minutes & I seldom got hiccups after being on medication for GERD. Also since I was little I used to wake up with a metallic taste in my mouth that went away after brushing my teeth which I did right after waking up partly to get rid of the taste. I almost never had the metallic taste since being on GERD medication.

After starting Pepcid I occasionally experienced a burning sensation in my throat. I've always been a majorly picky eater who loves fried & junk food so I thought that my unhealthy eating was catching up to me but looking back now I suspect my throat burning might of been due to medication &/or supplements I was on at the time but I'm not sure which specific ones. I also suspect the throat burning might of been a side-effect of the Pepcid like perhaps a rebound effect when Pepcid was wearing off. After being on Pepcid a while I started having problems with constipation & my general practitioner started prescribing me a stool-softener & I started trying to eat a lot more fiber. That only helped my constipation a little though. At some point my GP switched my Pepcid to Prilosec/Omeprazole because of my occasional throat burning which became very seldom after starting Prilosec. After being on Prilosec a while I realized my constipation had gotten better & I quite taking the stoof softener. I did a tad of research & constipation is a rarer side-effect of Pepcid.

In case anyone is curious, both Pepcid & Prilosec are available over the counter & do not require a prescription.
