Weirdly, people are one of my special interests so I often feel the most social when that special interest is at it's peak.

I'm at my most effortlessly social when engaging in mine. It's like flow state. If I'm ape watching at the zoo I cheerfully strike up conversation with randoms and I'm shy in every other setting.
It's my most prominent trait and one that I can take advantage of which is nice because I can't mask it either.

Invisibility.
The way nobody remembers you exist unless you are within their field of vision.

Distraction...
The ability to... Oooh Shiny!

I can relate, I've always found infodumping to be the situation I'm most comfortable being social in. Debate is another context I tend to feel comfortable in, so it's another outlet.

That said, I'm not really that shy. I don't know how to successfully socialize, but I also don't entirely know how to not socialize.

Special interests and obsessions. Another thing I struggle with is emotional regulation.

My most noticeable autistic trait is probably me blurting stuff out at random times. I blurt out obscenities, nonsense words, lines from TV shows or YouTube videos and whatnot. I've had people incorrectly assume that I have Tourettes because of it.

Interoception

I was under that impression that interoception was rather rare for a person on the spectrum, while alexithymia was pretty common. I have had a mind/body dissociation problem for most of my life.

Quote:
Yes, mind/body dissociation is a common issue among autistic individuals. Research indicates that approximately 10 to 15 percent of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) experience dissociative issues. This overlap is often linked to sensory overload, anxiety, and the high prevalence of alexithymia, which is difficulty identifying and describing one's own emotions. These factors can lead to a sense of detachment from feelings and body sensations, resulting in dissociation.

ADHD might be a different story though. I know that if I were to watch an ADHD documentary with my husband he'd be yelling out, "that's you!" every five minutes lol. I have told him I have ADHD but he keeps forgetting what it stands for, so whenever I spell it out he says "oh yes, you're definitely hyperactive with a short attention span!"

He can't remember what ADHD stands for even married to you?

I should elaborate on my previous answer.
Invisibility is decidedly aspie self's thing which counteracted addie self's...promiscuity.
Aspie self also sat on impulse, thought at lightspeed and and juggled a stack of thoughts to regain control after distraction.

He seemed to decamp a few years back, but he left behind some drogues to slow my careen.
I'm not sure I could define a purely autistic trait remaining.

Distractibility...that's my new thing, and with hearing loss, the inability to process one stream of words from another.
Uncontrolled ADHD with chronic joint pain to neutralise the "activity"

He's just not up with diagnostic labels, being so he brought up NT kids and doesn't seem to have any neurodivergents in his family, except when his mother got Alzheimer's.

staring off somewhere else (when i listen, it is very upsetting to many) and it isn't even a trait ??
staring at something without noticing im doing that

it might fall under ?
Autistic catatonia is an understudied and underrecognized condition. Catatonia of all kinds is frequently missed by clinicians.
(then they blame anxiety, everything is anxiety in usa  - big bizznizz of anxiety)

also i might sit in an uncomforable position without noticing that much, or notice but don't act on it
owell, it needs curing ofc 8)

I find it interesting that catatonia is treated with benzos (Anxiety) where attention defecit Is treated with amphetamines. (Dopamine deficiency), Yet both conditions show outward similarities.

My biggest autism traits are being too literal minded and a complete inability to make eye contact. I also have my own set of interests, which of course means I have nothing in common with my coworkers. Yay.

Same here. I just don't desire social interaction if special interests aren't a the topic.

While I would love nothing more than to talk about Foster all the time (talking about an obsession is like scratching an itch), I can still talk about and enjoy stuff beyond my obsession. In fact I could literally sit with someone I'm comfortable with and chat all day for hours about everything and anything, such as life in general, feelings and memories.
