I certainly hope so - fingers crossed :)

I think that is part of why Trump wants to stop the elections and assume total control.

How long do you think it will take for the Republican Party to recuperate from Trump? Or will it ever recuperate?

With Trump's current war on destroying everything about America, I think that it will seriously damage the Republican Party in the next few elections.

For example, with the attacks on Mexicans, there is some thought that Texas is about to turn Democrat.

It has been reported that JD Vance has an even lower approval rating than does Trump.

I know that in the future, I am not going to view any MAGA candidate positively. I don't care who it is or who they are running against. I'll either sit out the election or probably vote for the Libertarian candidate.

Trump hasn't destroyed anything about America. Unless you count fraud as American. What attacks against Mexico are you referring to?

Trump is certainly trying to destroy America. Using the power of the federal government, he's attempted to silence late night comedians for exercising their rights of free speech by ridiculing him. He has called the free press - the cornerstone of any free society - the enemy of the people. His minion Kristine Nome has used ICE as American Stormtroopers, terrorizing and even murdering citizens and non-citizens alike, and has even spoken of posting them at polling places in order to alter the outcome of elections. That alone is more than enough evidence of how Trump wants to destroy America and turn it into something unrecognizable, and it's only the tip of the iceberg.

And don't forget the direct attack on America on January 6, 2021. He and his ilk were definitely trying to overthrow the government so that Trump could stay in power.

He doesn't seem to be at all smart enough to grasp the fact that if he could do it, then others could, too.

I would rather see sovereignty of the states return.

The democrats and more broadly the left at large claims to be the people for tolerance and against hate, yet they hate the guts of the conservative movement-and not just the ideas and policy, but the people.

Trump intentionally or not added more fuel to that fire.

The sole reason why the federal government gained sovereignty over the states is because it found itself in the role of the defender of civil liberties when certain states allowed majorities to step on unpopular minorities.
As for the left hating people on the right - - there are plenty of instances where the right spouted venom at liberals as both a political movement and as individuals.

You really have been brainwashed and bought into the far left propaganda. None of what you said is true.

The civil war is a historical context and the stakes being argued were different from today. Our founders also wanted to trust the states with powers not mentioned by the national constitution, and the provisions for the form of government and Bill of Rights dealt only with the internal affairs of the federal branch.

Is that framework completely invalid simply because somebody abused it in the past?

If you recall, America had started out with the Articles of Confederation, which had unworkably given virtually all power to the states. And so the founders went to our current constitution, understanding that changes would have to be made along the way due to unforeseen circumstances. Hence amendments. And in the spirit of that thinking, our government and country has evolved as needed. Leaving most matters to the states had ultimately led to the Civil War. Of course federal government choices haven't always been stellar, but until states and the people therein live up to the American ideal, I'll put more trust in the federal government.

Certainly one of you has been; and if he insists it's you than it can't be him.

One of you is clearly rooted in widely agreed upon reality and the other relies on guano-minded culthink. One of you is under the spell of a charismatic leader and rejects any reality that portrays Dear Leader in a negative light, meanwhile the other seems to largely rely on widely reported information from credible media outlets.

I'm surprised you haven't been accused of Trump Derangement Syndrome, because everyone knows the only reason someone would speak critically of Donald J Trump is derangement. How could any reasonable person speak ill of Dear Leader? Ignoring all of the harms he inflicts on a daily basis, how could anyone criticize Dear Leader?

This seems like an example of the typical DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender) used by the right to present themselves as innocent victims.

I believe there's certainly some amount of class-based hatred expressed by liberals, but those are the same liberals who hate lower class culture in general and only tolerate 'ghetto culture' based on tokenism. These people aren't the left though, and typically hate the left more than even the far-right when push comes to shove. We've had these sorts of liberals on this very forum for many years, although some have seemed to either move on, or be less involved in political discussions to avoid criticism.

Beyond that, there are some lefties who are dealing with genuine trauma as a result of their experiences with chuds, and are just using pattern recognition to try to protect themselves from further abuse and trauma. While I don't like it, I don't think we can entirely condemn them for trying to protect themselves from terrible people.

Beyond those blocs, I don't really see a lot of hatred for the sorts of people who might be likely to be Trump supporters, only for those actively espousing far-right ideology.

That said, I understand how the far-right martyr complex (rooted in the Christian martyr complex) causes those on the right to reimagine all pushback against their god-ordained preferences as personal hatred, and then engage in DARVO so that they don't have to consider that they might be the bad guys from a reasonable perspective.

I'm sure there are those out there who do accuse me of TDS.

As this reaches a terminal phase you're going to see an increasing set of humiliation rituals among the dedicated core of the Trumposphere, with less and less dissent required before they apply the TDS label.

You'll also see more segments of the right start to distance themselves from Trump because they're preparing to pick up the pieces after Trump dies or completely loses everyone. Nick Fuentes and MTG are already doing this, for example.
