Anger is impatience turned a$$-up topic
This just goes to show me that there are problems like this in other countries.
Wsmac had really good advice. As for me, I tend to do things myself, so I am no help to you on this, Greentea. ![]()

Then I went to meet someone who has moved house and whose new neighbourhood I don't know. She told me over the phone it was too complicated to explain how to get there, so I looked in the map. When I got there I found it impossible to find the street, so I called her on her cell to ask her, because I knew I must be 1-2 blocks from her house, just needed some tiny guidance. No answer on her phone. Is it too much to ask that if you're expecting someone at that precise hour and the person doesn't know your neighbourhood and you weren't able to explain the way to them, that you keep available on the phone at that specific time of her arrival in case she can't find the house?
most of you anger seems triggered by being ignored at times you were only asking for some guidance in what you were trying to achieve. I would say no. maybe the communication between yu asnd your boss could hve been better, but that is about it. Ususlly if a person is busy it helps to wait and be patient.
I think you handle things better than I do. Your scenario sounds exactly like what I go through all the time. I have a real problem customer service people sometimes.
I think my problem is I’m too polite. I prefer to try and get someone’s attention by standing intently and looking directly at them. I don’t like to have to interrupt people. Problem is most customer service people seem to use my politeness as an excuse to ignore me. I know they see me but they willingly decide not to acknowledge my presence until I but in and say something.
I also know it’s not that I just have to be more patient because I have had instances where I stood waiting for a good 20 minutes with zero acknowledgement. They had plenty of chances between tasks, they just choose not to. Usually by the time I do interrupt them it’s with an annoyed tone and if they give me any attitude I raise mine a notch higher than theirs.
Airline service people are the worst with this kind of crap. I think half of them are disgruntled *ssholes because the companies overwork them. It’s one of the major reasons I hate traveling alone. I’d rather have someone else deal with the crap attitudes. Traveling is stressful enough without that kind of BS.
Marshall, that's my experience too. Being polite can work against you.
Today I went into a store and acted like a real pain in the butt. I was offensive from the first second, loud, aggressive, accusing, blaming, scorning, mocking, humiliating. I got the best treatment I EVER got at a store. They changed the item for free (quite unheard of around here) with only a very mild protest and went out of their way to help me, while I COULD SEE how they were treating the rest of the customers with quite the indifference and coldness. If I'd been nice, I'd still be there now begging to be served.
When I went out of the store, I realized another car had parked so that I couldn't get mine out. I started begging for help, but nobody came. Then I had an idea: I started PRETENDING that I was giving terribly hard kicks with all the strength of my legs and arms into the chassis of the car. In NO TIME a man came and moved the car. He had seen me beg all along, but he only moved when he saw (what he thought was) me destroying his beautiful car with my feet and fists.
My mum said kindness will always win you people's favor and meanness will make you lose their favor. Boy was my mom a liar, and she knew she was lying, my mom knew perfectly well she was lying to me.

I noticed that kind culture on the East Coast here in the US. People don’t go out of their way to help you unless you get really aggressive and assertive with them. New Yorkers are all like that.
Here in the Western US it’s different. People don’t like it if you’re aggressive. They are polite and laid back for the most part, but some are nasty in a passive aggressive way. They will act all nice and smiley, but at the same time they refuse to be helpful. They make you feel guilty for getting impatient with them, but you don’t have a choice.

I don't mean offense by laughing, but it serves them right! I would love to have seen the stupid minions scurrying around. Yes, customer service sucks, nowadays.
