Anyone here a vegetarian?
I became a 'not just yet' vegetarian when I was 7 (ate fish), by the age of 9 I became a real vegetarian. My family were omnivores, but my mum made sure I got a healthy diet. I really like veggies, since I was a child which is very handy I must say. I am vegan now for about 10 years or so.
I started to become a vegetarian because I thought it was wrong and sad to kill animals (I was 7 eh), on my way I learned lots about the whole industry, just too much to write here (maybe I drop a thread some day about this).
In the end I decided to become vegan.
I feel healthy and now a days it is really easy to be a vegan too and have a really tasty healthy diet, because there are lots of alternatives and not just with food. I must say I am kinda lucky I live in a country/city where it is an easy choice to make. Also I am a good cook and interested in food.
I do take a vegan b complex supplement, because B12 shortidge is one of the things that might happen with vegetarians and vegans, but I have also seen it with omnivores btw.
Principally I am not against living in symbioses with animals and I am definitily not the 'vegan police'. I don't want to point the finger at people who are omnivores too. I do want to enourage people who like to make the step to vegetarianism/veganism. My tip is take it one step at the time, don't jump into veganism, because your body needs to get used to changes slowly, otherwise you might become ill. There is lots of stuff to find on the internet and there are many good books. My favorite food book at the moment is; 'Another Dinner is possible'. Not just lots of different (easy) tasty recipies from all around the world, but also interesting facts and tips.

Interesting question. I can and do drink orange juice and grape juice. I can also enjoy eating tomato soup if there's lots of crackers in it. Tomato sauce on pizzas doesn't bother me at all as long as there's no chunks in it.
As for health implications, I do have elevated cholesterol levels as well as low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Ten years ago I had a gall bladder attack and lost it in an emergency surgery which alone has left me with lingering medical issues including hypoxia (low oxygen sats, I often use the oxygen machine at home with the tubes in my nose). I now also experience frequent encopresis (sudden crapping in my pants, though not loose thank God) and wear pull-ups most of the time. Since that surgery I ballooned to 235 pounds, probally making me one of the "big boys" on this board. I was told when I had the surgery that there would be a number of foods I wouldn't be able to tolerate anymore, but so far I haven't found any that I ate before I got sick that I can't still handle, although I do get acid easier if I intake certain things too soon before bedtime.
