I actually can't sleep when I'm thinking about myself and not liking it. Anyway, and whether it's time to sleep or not, if I feel like that I simply force myself to think about something else. Daydreaming (or nightdreaming, considering the hours) usually does the trick.

I bought a specific machine that allows me to have multiple releases. I call them my Aspie O's and after a rendezvous I sleep like a little child.

Yes. Often. For many hours. I have no problem staying in bed for up to 16 hours, after that the caffeine withdrawal forces me to activate.

Sleep's the only thing that works reliably. Work comes a distant second. Drinking good wine is up there with the leaders somewhere.

I sleep to avoid myself all the time. If I sleep at all, it's to avoid myself. To avoid people, the rest of the world, and to avoid having a seizure. Also to avoid having to face the miseries of day-to-day life. But that could be my current black mood talking. Regardless, I'm off to go sleep to avoid myself. 'Ta.

I agree wholeheartedly with the good wine bit though. Perhaps a heady Port or a deep, fruity Cabernet Franc.

I like sleeping to escape the concerns of life.

There's a bit of a Catch 22 though - I avoid going to bed on week nights until really late, because I fear having to get up in the morning and face all the crap again.

Not sure if that makes any sense - but that's me, completely senseless

I actually fear going to sleep, because I am afraid of having bad dreams, ranging from dreams about getting lost to dreams about something happening to family members and pets.

Yes, sometimes I sleep excessively in order to escape from reality.

I'll sleep when I'm very upset or depressed or something that way I'll feel better in the morning I hope. If not then I'll be well rested and better able to cope but I do it too much sometimes :?

It's not that I sleep to avoid myself....

It's that I sleep to avoid life in a NT world....that quite frankly....can send me into fits of despair at times....

and when I sleep.....
or (prelude to sleep)....I can spin such a "fantastic" aspie-life/style" for myself....

one in which....

I don't have to ever be "a slave to a clock",
.......where I can be in a place.....

(that I can hear)....

a frog hopping on the dry leaves......
on his way to a clear, sparkling pond.....
(where he can add his voice....to the cricket symphony....)

a world....

where...
I can listen....and hear....
the wind rushing over the wings of a raven....

or....
under....
the wings....
of a dragonfly....

where I can stop....

and stare...

because - I am amazed.....at his beauty....
(his body is a scarlet red....his wings....emerald green)....

no-one can say....

"you're late!! ! - grrrr!! ! time-out for you!! !"....

(In my dream - they understand)

......so...yes....I go to sleep.....

and awaken....in the rich - vivid world.....that is so rejected by .........(I cry and bleed....) - it really hurts...(can't they see?) - why? - why not?

silence.....
the sound .....

All the time. I love my world of sleep. It is so comforting there. Even today from 11am to 2pm I had a sleep as I was so overwhelmed.
I do struggle to get to sleep at night...having to stay up to the early hours to tire myself out. But at least I have the world of the net to keep me company during the night :)
