I don't trust mods to be honest.

We needed more mods...we have more mods. Enough now that if there are further issues with spamming, it should be cleared up pretty quickly unless all of us are having a bad day

At least the mods here won't edit images...

A mod on a Zelda forum edited a picture I posted, and I got blamed for it.

I'm hoping we don't have any garbage like that here. Though random selection seems dangerous.

Picture editing is probably needed for offensive images. I don't see how it matters if an offensive image is replaced with an "own3d" one.

That's the issue. When one becomes a mod, they suddenly are considered different for some reason. There's no reason for this. An individual can be a mod without having a change in their personality. When this is the case, everything's great. None of the new mods have had it "go to their heads." In all honesty, I don't think it will, at least for the ones that I feel like I "know," in a sense.

Being a mod isn't hard because of the responsibilities, it is hard because of the stigma attached with it. Give them a break, mods serve an important purpose here, to take care of the children (biologically or mentally) that think filling the boards with rubbish somehow makes them more than they are...and I can see how that is appealing since they're nothing to begin with.

Thanks shadexiii. It also helps to know that Alex'll just fire us if we misuse our abilities. And in some strange way, that we were selected without consideration for merit. Maybe government should work that way. I know that it was once in Florence, but the 'randomness' got all mucked up by bribery.

That is acting like an immature little kid. Alex, you don't own the rights to where people can and can't post!

For example, I post at:

www.asdgestalt.com

www.onthespectrum.com

No one at any of those places has said anything about me posting elsewhere.

One thing that I hope is that some of the mods can read other languages (well I know some can) and keep some eye on the foreign section. I peeked in, and it looks pretty calm, but it would be good, in case there is a problem there.

There's a good reason for them being treated differently: people know that if you get into a disagreement with them that they can always invoke their executive privilege. A responsible mod, having in mind that this is how they may be perceived, would refrain from entering into discussions over contentious issues. However, most are usually too immature and arrogant to see that. Indeed, many go a step beyond and continue with such actions as publicly calling for people to be banned, taking full advantage of their new position, knowing others will shy from challenging them.

Anyway, we will have to trust in the judgment of Alex and see what happens.
