^ thank you for posting the Jacqueline du Pré, pcgoblin. I listen each time she is posted. That is one of my favourite renditions of one of my favourite pieces.
She was my hero growing up, both because she was so brilliant and because I used to get scolded for moving my body when I played and I could point to her in my own defence.
The strength in her fingers is incredible.

She does it with great aplomb, no? New strings are cold, not as responsive, and have a tendency to go out of tune. I always feel like they are 'biting' my fingers. So it is not just her dignity in the moment but how she pulls the performance back together afterwards that I like.
