By the way, you guys ever seen this one?

http://www.vir2.com/instruments/violence

Seriously, I love it. Its like electronic sounds drawn from an acoustic source, makes me feel like I should get a dixie cup, a good microphone, and go to work on it all day to get some wonderfully soft and velvety percussion.

I have VIONE, its nice, was checking out Mojo for jazz when I found this by accident.

Another thing I just came up with: eight measures of a string/string & bell part for a film score or some other orchestral piece. I have no idea exactly what I want to use it for yet, though, but I'll try to turn it into a full-fledged piece of music at some point... Having said that, please do not use either of the clips below without my express permission.

Wanted to hear these but can't figure out how to listen without getting pushed to download some sort of ancilliary software/adware/malware. :s

I think a lot of us could manage hip-hop beats easily, suppose the question is what kind of mood do you have your stuff, how do you flow and what type of stuff do you like to flow over? We could probably do a pretty good job of things with that on the table.

Then try this and this. The download link is the image in the botom left that says 'download now' with the green arrow.

Yeah, I'm striking out. If no one else has that problem don't worry about it. If other people are clicking the download tab and getting pop-ups but no download you may want to go to sendspace or megaupload.

Huh. Works just fine for me. I get a new pop-up window that I can immediately close, and the download/save dialogue box comes up right after that.

Here's the SendSpace link to the files, anyway.

Yeah, for me at that point the page-loading wheel just spins. Sendspace worked fine though. Could just be my ISP? Not sure.

This looks like a great idea...I am a producer who still has stuff to learn but I do a really good job. I also play a variety of instruments, such as piano and bass guitar, and I sing too. Might I suggest My Online Band? It works a lot better than your basic file sharing site because it's designed for collaborating musically and you can create private workspaces so that as a song is being put together, it can be a wrongplanet only sort of thing. Kompoz also looks good but unlike My Online Band you have to pay to create private online workspaces.

Sounds like a great idea. We could probably have maybe a different page for every agreed upon password? Admittedly global name/password for all projects may be too loose.

I'm thinking this idea may take a while, take a few reads, etc. to get people interested. That's fine. My suggestion - we could always sit here and talk about plugins till we get enough arrivals  .

I am pleased to say that I just got around to downloading the PSP Vintage Warmifier demo - I caught wind of it on a Kryptic Mindz tutorial and I think they're absolutely right about it, it adds a very distinct and positive character to the balance of the mix. I'd be curious to know how much of that is subtle built-in EQing vs. analog compressor emulation.

Well, the way it works, is, everyone creates an account there. One person sets up a private song workspace, and upon creating it, after making it private and associating it with a "band", (which could have any name, in this case, it could simply be "WrongPlanet") you collect the email addresses that each person used to sign up there, and you enter them into a field, which is used to invite people into the project page. As a matter of fact, you can enter the email address of someone who hasn't signed up yet, and it will simply sign them up and then ask if they want to join the project. So really, a shared password is not necessary.

I've been listening to a lot of pop-punk and alternative rock lately; and damn it, I really want to be part of a band with a sound like that. I'd love to be in a pop-punk / alternative rock / post-grunge band. It'd be a reason to get back into drumming again.

I think I'm hitting a spell right now where I can tell I'm getting bored of producing dnb. It seems like the beat structure feels too frozen, especially along the standard motifs, so my stuff's just getting wonkier. Right now I've got something at 174 that I started working on with a kick drum on the half notes so its feeling and behaving much closer to 87bpm but still, the added minimalism is giving me a chance to drive it a bit deeper:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/fcv629

(with this one, please only use if you contact me and feel like you can or want to try taking it farther in the direction that its going - I'm looking do add some sort of thin/dark/etherial pads and perhaps some mashups around the corners that'll sort of pull at the listener. This isn't a final verdict on structure either - just a loop demo).

Another option I'm exploring:

http://www.synthedit.com/

I just got this to see how far I can get with it as well as how much sound I can milk out of it. Looks promising, particularly after hearing just how many quality synths have been constructed from this program. If I do make anything particularly hot I'll float it out here :).

Something else that just dropped my jaw, I didn't realize this was a 2011 product:

Took 30 years but, Roland has done it - come up with a new synth that they actually feel is straight up worth calling a Jupiter. It'll only set you back $3,500.00 though , one of these days if I make a big success of something and really need to give myself one hell of a birthday gift this could be it.... well.... this or a Virus TI series, still not sure which way I'd go.
