Hey, I'm ret*d, it's not that bad.....

Anyway, I just wanted to say I understand what you're going through. I had salmonella poisoning two years ago and my IBS has gotten a lot worse since. It doesn't matter what I eat, I'll get symptoms on and off even if I eat the same thing all the time. If I'm anxious or nervous I get really bad cramps. It's awful.

I think you're doing a wise thing wearing pull-ups so that then you don't end up in a real mess, embarrassed in public. You are protecting yourself.

Your future partner should understand and love you to bits just the way you are. :)

Now I'm not so quick to judge, when I see an adult who appears to be wearing a special garment.

Before you had to wear protection, what did you used to think of young people who be appearing to be wearing a diaper or a under garment?

That there must have been something terribly wrong with them. I'm sorry.

Do you mean medically like bladder or bowel problems or wrong with them as in sick and disgusting people?

There is that wierd way that a lot of people think that there is "something wrong" with a person and that the person should be shunned.

More along the lines of having some sort of Mental Disorder, but I now know that it's not the case, and it could happen to anyone at any age.

My only problem now, is that I'm keeping my bladder and bowel issues a secret from my parents. I've only stayed overnight with my dog, Chico twice, since they've started. I've stayed the night, five times before that. I was constanty sitting on the toilet, every half-hour. I was also feeling uneasy, after my mum mentioned that I had underwear, downstairs and than she ran into the spare bedroom, telling me about something funny that Chico did in the kitchen, just as I was about to pull an adjustable garment out of my bag. I hope that if my parents do find out about my secret, that they chalk it up as the result of me being on the Spectrum and having my last bowel and bladder accident, a year apart, respectivley at the ages 8, and 9. Those accidents don't happen on purpose.

There are numerous parasites and bacteria that can cause this kind of problem, too. You sound like you have dysentery. You may not be able to get over this soon without medical treatment. Things like this do go around and I've had it before. There was a huge rash of cases in the Omaha Nebraska area a few years ago. It made the papers.

Did you take a course of antibiotics just before this started? That's another possible cause.

You really need to see if a doctor can fix this.

I'd suggest that you go to the dr. I had bowel problems - really SEVERE bowel problems when I had gall stones. I had some near misses as well as minor accidents when I passed gas. Also I had some accidents when I had salmonella, but that was self-limiting and I knew why it was happenning.

Recently, I've had a couple of accidents. However, I know the food that triggered it (which I can tolerate even less now that I no longer have a gall bladder). Fortunately, I was at home both times. So I guess I don't feel too bad about it because I know what is causing it and how to control it.

I agree with Remnant that you should be checked for parasites and bacteria. Or possibly even gall bladder disease (are you having any pain that would suggest that?). Aside from being an embarrassing problem, it is dangerous to be loosing that much fluid through watery diarrhea. It took me 3 days from the time I caught salmonella to needing hospialization due to fluid loss. So, good luck at your dr appointment. Hopefully they will find out something so you can get better and get on with your life.

That's one that I hadn't thought of and I have some evidence that I may have gall bladder disease. It seems to run in my family. This can also explain variable tolerances to foods, beverages. and other stimuli.

You know, I'd have violent bouts of vomitting and diarrhea but not have any pain as is typically the case with gall stones. I ran the gamut of tests and diagnoses (including possible psychiatric ones). Then, finally, I got really weak so my husband took me to the local Emergency Department where they suggested gall stones. By that time I was also starting to have a little bit of pain. But I think that my HFA possibly leads me to not have as intense pain as others, so don't let a lack of pain make you think that you can't have gall bladder disease - especially since we tend to be more tolerant of pain.
