Most extremely High Functioning folks I know in the spectrum train themselves to overcome their EF difficulties by becoming obsessive compulsive in pursuit of excellence.
My own experience is that growing up in an extremely driven and abusive household, I developed highly adaptive skills. I had to work so hard to develop symptoms, routines and obsessions that enablesld me to prioritise and organise. I was not a natural at planning, but soon learnt to do so by superimposing ridged control and routines in order to manage my life. In short my greatest success in adapting so well, become my downfall as a human being. These days, I celebrate when I mess up and allow my human dysfunction to be as it is.
