There’s emotional intimacy, too, which involves sharing thoughts, feelings, and experiences - stuff that you wouldn’t necessarily share with other people.

David and I have gotten to the point of emotional intimacy...which can lead to physical intimacy!! ! :heart:

well that didn't happen in my last relationship, the physical part, makes me angry that it didn't happen.

I posted this in another thread but it still applies here:

Back in 2005 I made friends with a moderator named GalileoAce after we had a funny argument about Star Trek. I was having mental illness trouble after that and he supported me through it so I decided to visit him on the other side of the country in Melbourne and Geelong. We got along so well that we became a couple.

He moved to Queensland to his parents' place so he could save money in order to move into a place with me. I visited him there a couple of times then he came across Australia and we lived together. We got married in 2007.

I wish I could say happily ever after but we hit a rough patch when GA decided he wanted to transition into a woman. I also wish I could say I was fully supportive of her decision, but I wasn't. I left her to live with my parents for a few years. I wasn't far from GA so I visited her and we remained great friends.

In 2013, my parents decided to move to the country so guess what? I moved back in with GA. We now have a special platonic bond that goes beyond ordinary friendship. I love her to bits and most likely always will.

I would imagine being with another person with ASD would be hard, in a romantic way. My issues plus theirs's, sounds like endless meltdowns and fights. Now, if I could find someone who could deal with my occasional BS, a patient NT could work.
