You are right. I am deeply sorry. I'm sorry for your loss, MissPickian. :(

You expressed sorrow before you gave your opinion. You didn't hurl insults. Your post didn't bother me as much.

Now Willard? That guy is R-U-D-E.

I know this may sound cruel, sick and evil so if you don't want to read this, turn away now.

For years religion has dominated the government and structured society around it's very whims.

In terms of karma...this could very well be payback.

And if god opposes Gay's...couldn't this very well be the will of god?

I am sorry if I offended anyone, but...

It does suck people died though. I do not mock the dead unless they deserve it and they didn't.

This kind of thing is why I'm applying for a concealed handgun license shortly. I won't go in depth about the whole gun control argument just yet. This is not the thread for it.

It's terrible that this sort of thing is so common these days. Unfortunately I think our society is beyond the point where we can right ourselves. I have a lot of ideas on how to fix the situation, but modern society simply won't accept them. :(

God is not anti-Gay. Only organized religions are. God created gays and straights alike. Just be glad there isn't a religious movement against aspies. Imagine that. Being told we are going to hell because we were born autistic. If Jesus were here today, he wouldn't be shooting up ANY churches.

As far as the gun permit thing, where I live, there are more of those than driver's licenses.

I went to a Christian High School in the 70's. At that time, we had guns all over the place. Guys had pickups with gun racks in the back with at least one gun in it. All the guys brought guns to school and it was no big thing back then. Nobody was hostile with them. Just a lot of hunters. One time, a kid brought one to class and the teacher fussed at him for not cleaning it properly. I'll never forget what the teacher said: "Never put WD-40 on a gun!" Other than that, there was no reaction by the teacher. In fact, about half the guys had 8" hunting knifes in sheaths on their belts. Nobody thought anything about them.

A few years after I graduated, they passed laws against having guns in schools so the school had to clamp down on overt gun possession.

Anyhow, the point is that it isn't the gun that's the problem, its the guy holding it. If the guy that shot up the church did so because of gay hatred, then I hope they lock him up in a gay prison for the rest of his life. That would be a more fitting punishment than executing him. Lets see if he enjoys being the b!tch for the rest of his life.

If God is completely omnipotent with complete control over all of the cosmos, I have my doubts that he is sick and useless enough to focus on the wanton murder of of homosexuals on a small planet on some far arm of the Milky Way. You're implying he actively intervenes, but no, he doesn't prevent murders, rapes, molestations, and abuse, he kills people for being gay. Rrright.

I don't believe in a God that I, a naive teenager, can recognize as corrupt and morally bankrupt.

On September 13, 2006 I was almost in a school shooting but missed the first train in the subway so didn't get there in time for the shooting. :) By the time I got there people were coming out of the school and security guards were directing people out of the adjacent mall.

My favorite 9-11 story is about a newlywed who had a job in tower two. On September 10, 2001, his wife made him a burrito with a highly suspect flavor and smell. The next morning he caught a taxi to get to work, but he soon needed badly to go to the bathroom. This was New York, a city well known for its lack of public restrooms, so he ended up running around looking for facilities for about ten minutes before soiling himself. He slunk home to change. Before setting off again, he turned on the television, just in time to see the second plane crash into the exact floor where he would've been working if it wasn't for the case of mild food poisoning his wife had given him. His wife's bad cooking had saved his life.

Greg McKendry (they've released his name) died a hero. He jumped into the line of fire and took bullets that were headed for other people.

The guy who tackled the shooter was a professor at the state college right down the road from the church, and I can say that petulantly to people who tell me that all academics are sissies for the rest of my life.

A small amount of information about the shooter has been released. He has long blond hair and was wearing a "patriotic" T-shirt. According to witnesses, he shouted "hateful" things while firing.

Mr. McKendry was obviously a man of great courage MissPickwickian. I am sad to hear of your friends being murdered may they Rest in Peace. :(

I went through a Michael Moore phase when I was about eleven and he put a few true 9-11 stories in the first chapter of Dude, Where's My Country?.

MisPickwickian, I'm glad you weren't there when that happened. I'm sorry for the loss of your friends. I hope that murderer gets what he deserves for this.

May the dead rest in peace, knowing that they will be remembered in love. May the sorrowing be comforted.

And may we all remember that, as Ghandi said, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
