It's weird as I can't find a single verifiable source confirming Musk inherited his wealth?. Only verifiable investment passed from father to son is $28,000 in a Musk owned company called Zip2 in 1995.

No doubt Musk grew up privileged due to Errol Musk's mining interests in Zimbabwe. He grew up in a well-appointed home in Pretoria, South Africa, specifically in suburbs like Waterkloof. The house was part of a privileged,, upper-middle-class upbringing during the apartheid era. His childhood was marked by access to, luxuries such as private schools, travel, and, later, a family-owned airplane.

However (like trump) he used his own business acumen and networks to build and expand his empire. From that perspective he's not really a trust fund kid who more typically lives a hedonistic lifestyle living off mom and dad.
