I helped my NT sister clean the bathrooms of our house.

Our mom is out of the country and will return on August 19th.

The maternal grandmother is bedridden, almost 90 to our mom being 73.

I wrote a fanfic belonging to "The Walking Dead" fandom (I found an English speaking beta for it) and watched several episodes of this TV show. But I'm not very into zombies, ewww.

Well, it was actually yesterday, or even the day before, technically speaking, but I went to a little town in Derbyshire called Buxton.

It's about 40 miles away from where I live, but because I don't have a car, it took around 4 hours using a combination of buses, trams and trains. That's an average of around 10 miles per hour, and that's not unusual in the UK.

Anyway, Buxton is quite an interesting place from a cultural and architectural standpoint, though I only spent a couple of hours there. I went into a bakery shop looking to buy a pork pie, and was astonished to see that all the shelves were bare, including the one under the main counter. I asked the proprietor if he had any pork pies, and he said sorry, no. It was obvious that he had no other sorts of produce either, so I went on my way.

The astonishing thing was that it was only 2.30 pm, so he would've been open for another two or three hours, doing what exactly?

It only struck me afterwards that this was exactly a rerun of the Monty Python Cheese Shop sketch, and that I could have had quite a bit of fun with this situation if I'd had my wits about me (as opposed to being dog-tired after travelling for four hours. then walking about the streets in roasting heat).

I then spent another 4 hours getting home. The only consolation was that I'd travelled about 80 miles at precisely no cost whatsoever, except to what's left of my sanity, as my bus pass covered it all (including the tram and train elements).

No bowler-hatted dancers in the Buxton pie shop, unfortunately.

Went by bus to a town called Todmorden about 15 miles away, just across the border in Yorkshire. The locals don't really sound like Yorkies for the most part, I must say.

The highlight here is the indoor market, which is the smallest such place I've ever encountered, but really an absolute gem.

I bought five pork pies from one of the excellent butcher's stalls in there, just £2 each. I've developed a bit of a pork pie obsession in recent months, and have visited quite a few towns to check them out.

Doomscrolling and spiraling as usual. I called in sick due to my depression and lack of sleep. Though I have been coughing but I think it's cause of the wildfire smoke.

^ I'd never heard the word 'doomscrolling' until very recently, and didn't know what it was, but have subsequently realized that I've been doing it for over 20 years.
