Yeah, but they can be both distracting AND enjoyable.
I'm here for serious spamming, so I like blocking them.
Actually though, I have trouble concentrating with even
static additional stimuli, so even frames are kind of questionable
for me. It's why I would never buy USA Today, or modern
magazines.

Please provide evidence of the mods "playing games" and "going out of control". Most of the modding involves removing spammy or flamy posts from the forums.

He was last on on April 7th. Plus, I believe that he was
advocating stronger moderation, which is specifically
against what we are supposed to do.

Ironically, Graelwyn was the one egging me on when I jokingly changed the title of that one thread to the thing about the fluffy bunnies - that was probably THE most immature thing I've ever done as a mod

I don't think that he was complaining
about the mods going out of control.
I suspect that the immaturity referred
to related more to the fact that we allow
for spamminess (or in my case participate
in it) to thrive here, rather than cracking down
on it like in such a manner as to make it easier
for an infrequent visitor to keep up with his
conversations. There are plenty of sites with
very few people, which tend to move at a slower
pace, and I would guess that he went back to one
of these.

I wouldn't say that we allow spamminess to thrive here. There are some forums reserved for frivolous discussions (e.g. Random and Role Play) - if he doesn't want to read frivolous posts, he should steer clear of such forums. I don't think that the other forums are out of control - in fact, I've moved threads and given public explanations if I thought they were too frivolous to be where the OP started them.

Yeah. It's pretty clear that this is just not a comfortable
fit for him. And that's fine. There are other sites which
are much more heavily moderated.

One thing that I would like to suggest is the addition of some kind of young adult or college age forum. I know it isn't explicitly necesarry, but we have one for kids, teenagers, then adults. And the older aspies even formed a board of their own for people over thirty, which I think is great, but I can't post there, and to be reluctantly honest some of the younger members here really irk me sometimes also. This site would put me in a better mood if I didn't feel like saying something nasty so freaking often, heh.

I wanted a marriage/long term relationship forum, but the first time I mentioned anything about this a couple of months ago I was criticized. I put a sticky up in the Getting To Know You forum called "Married Aspie Cafe Thread" and it's actually turning out to be a pretty active little thread. All of a sudden, married WP'ers are coming out of the woodwork.

 Too true. I would rather have a sense of childishness left in me, though, than be totally mature all the time.

Also...Maldorer, I thought there was an adolescent forum...or has it gone? Shall have to look.

Um, yes there is both an adolescent forum and a college and school forum? Not sure how you have missed those...

Adolescent means teenager. The school and college sections are for anyone of any age in any school or college - what if I'm not in college, or what if I don't want to talk about college? (I don't.)

So, we need like 50 different categories so everyone is happy?... I think there is a perfectly adequate number of forums short of having them by decade.

So don't. Talk about whatever you want and post it in the most relevant place. We can't have a website to cater to every specific individual lifestyle, age, occupation and interests of every single Aspie ever.

Great, thanks for telling me what I should do, there. I guess I'll just keep wading through the 1500000 "Kiss a random member's ass!" and "b***h about your day on a scale of 0 to -50!" to find the three posts per day that I find interesting or relevent towards my life. Thanks for summing up how I should feel about a forum ostensibly designed for a person with Asperger's to find a group to relate to. Guess it was easy enough for both of you, though. Maybe my problem is that I'm not stoked enough about Final Fantasy or roleplaying to appreciate wrongplanet.

*Stops voicing his opinion and making any suggestion of any kind so that the internet is saved from the excessive disregard for bandwidth represented by the addition of an extra forum to wrongplanet*
