How to fight boss in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword?

First take the updrafts to higher ground, stand near where above The Imprisoned, then launch a bomb from Groose's catapult to temporarily stun him. Jump onto his head and strike the seal a few times. Next, he will start levitating, use another Groose bomb to strike it back down. Head down to the bottom and strike the seal a few times while he's on his back. Lastly, he'll get back up and levitate again. Groose can't get to his bombs this time so you'll to race to the top by taking the updrafts. Talk to Groose and launch yourself from the catapult onto the monsters head. Strike the seal a few times and its over.

It's the part where I have to race to the top utilizing the updrafts that gets me!

I decided as an experiment to return to Lanayru Province to see what would happen and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I could still play the mini-game Rickety Coaster without messing up my save file!! !

Meaning that Lanayru is NOT 100% off-limits as long as I don't start and complete the "Song of the Hero" quest!

Anything to distract from fighting The Imprisoned part 3...

Just remember the strategy I gave you. I can provide a video if you require visual aid.

Taking a break from boss and just playing mini-games & executing the "Back in Time" glitch where the file-selection screen is actually fully playable

Decided to start with Eldin Volcano first then fight The Imprisoned but I am confused with what to do in the Volcano Summit area

I CANNOT figure out how to get the platforms to appear in the room with the Fire Dragon!

I tried everything so I must have done something out of order

Were you captured by the bokoblins yet? That's important. The volcano is supposed to erupt during that time where you get captured and have to escape and get your stuff back.

Yes, I believe I am past that part!! !

I'm actually close to where the Fire Dragon is but I CANNOT figure out how to get the platforms to appear like I said above

What you're looking for is at least in one of these videos.

Phase 2 Strategy (Shockwaves Everywhere)

The Problem: Once The Imprisoned stands upright, he stomps around and sends out shockwaves that keep you from running straight up to his toes. If you just rush in with your sword, you’ll get knocked back over and over.

The Trick: Don’t try to brute force it. You’ve got two better options:

Use the Groosenator (Groose’s Bombs):

Groose will be ready to help at this point.

Launch bombs at The Imprisoned’s head to knock him over.

Once he’s down, rush to the feet and slash the toes before he gets up again.

Use the Air Vents / Timing:

The shockwaves always pulse out in rhythm with his stomps.

If you time your jumps right, you can leap over the shockwave (or use the air vents to launch over them) and still reach his toes.

Roll into his feet or hit them quick with sword slashes before the next wave comes.

Priority: Focus on one foot at a time. Breaking one side makes him stumble and slows him down, giving you more time.

General Tips:

Stay calm and don’t waste stamina — sprinting constantly will drain you, and you’ll get caught in the shockwave.

Always keep an eye on the ramps and air vents in case you need quick mobility.

If Groose isn’t ready yet, stay near him until he reloads so you can use another bomb shot.

I guess the question is, without having access to Groose and his bombs HOW are you supposed to be able to beat The Imprisoned to the top of the Sealed Grounds?

In the other parts of the fight, you could just utilize Groose's catapult machine and lob bombs at the boss which pushes him back to the very bottom of the Sealed Grounds but...


EDIT: Actually the real issue is when Link launches himself from Groose's bomb catapult contraption

I cannot get the timing right when I aim which results in completely missing the target (boss) and falling down to the bottom of the Sealed Grounds!

I just heard from my brother that there is a way to actually bypass The Imprisoned fight and jump to the next part of the game!! !

I am updating this thread because in order to properly execute the glitch I had to create a new file and start the game from the beginning!! !

I have to reach Lanayru Mining Facility before I can do the "Back in Time" glitch that will enable me to bypass the 3rd fight against The Imprisoned and jump to the boss rush mini-game & final battle against Demise!

I'm currently in Skyview Temple working my way towards Ghirahim fight 1...
