That change (in how much MP is used when curing) certainly did change the game's difficulty level. I had to come up with more run-away-and-recover-MP strategies that I did in the first one. XD
But they did bring in the Drive gauge - which also heals you completely. So it's almost like having 2 cura uses... Sort of. Kind of. Maybe not. -_-''

Speaking of Drive... I hate the random shadow form. I read somewhere that the more you use the forms, the more often it appears instead of the one you selected. Seems a bit counter productive to me. I suppose it ads an element of risk to the transformations, but it's not like Valor Wisdom and Master forms are invincible or unstoppable in the first place.
It's presence is never explained in the game (as far as I recall) and is occasionally helpful, occasionally debilitating. Always baffling.

Also, whenever I tried to use the fire attack in KHII I always expected to shoot it like a bullet at the enemy (like in KHI) but I always got tripped up when it just randomly spun around my feet. I had general issues with the offensive magic in the second.

I kind of liked the shadow form, often it tripped me up though as it prevents you from doing final blows and thus can not be used to beat bosses. I think it was set up that all the dark energy you picked up from activating drives is released all at once, though it was fun to be flying around like the Heartless.

One thing I realy liked how they changed in KH2 was the reflection spell that blocks attacks and releases a powerfull attack around you.

The camera in certain battles in the original Kingdom Hearts can be pointlessly infuriating to keep under control.

It certainly was cool/interesting to attack enemies like a heartless. But I hated how you couldn't heal, use magic, or go back to normal until the gauge ran out. You were trapped in the form.

I agree on reflect, though. Very useful. I used it more than I used any other magic in KH2.

In the first KH game there was no way to skip the cut scenes.

so if u died repeatedly u had to watch them over and over again.
