Alice in Chains and Soundgarden (and their side projects) got me through my younger years.

Around 1997 I was getting into BIG WRECK, but to make a long story short, the frontman retreated to Canada, and they broke up in 2001. Ian Thornley is easily one of the most underrated rock musicians of all time. Unfortunately, he spent about 8 years making somewhat crappier music under his last name on Nickelback's ROADRUNNER label. But, he reformed BIG WRECK in late '10 and their 2012 album "Albatross" easily blows most contemporary rock of the water, and it's a real shame they aren't marketed internationally. Of course, I learned the Albatross is used in folklore as a mark of shame, but the album propels it to one that can be worn with pride.

The stuff seems to be ASPIE FRIENDLY, almost like the material is from that point of view. I highly recommend taking a listen to any of it.

Musically, the material contains a fantastic mix of all types of rock, from classic to prog to blues and country/bluegrass.
