Last song. Literally speaking, the opening theme song to Mystery Science Theater 3000 with Joel (six minutes ago)

Shirts - Do you prefer buttons, snaps, zippers, string, or pull over? I suppose one could prefer Paint On Shirts?

Oh I don't know about shirts. I like fine linen and ethical cotton. I like a nice cuff or a bit of eyelet lace if it's not too fussy. Soft, simple. I think... buttons or pull-over.

If you could spend a day in somebody else's life, whose would it be?

I'd like to give a Ukrainian on the front lines a day off.

You just woke up washed ashore on a remote island, roll over and feel relieved to see someone washed up next to you who you can identify, but have never met.
Who is it?

Please let it be Park Eun-bin.

Why would I want to curse Park Eun-bin in the prime of her life?

...I think if pcgoblin is cursing someone it must be because (like the fairy godmother in Sleeping Beauty) he wishes to spare them from some worse fate.

What's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about you, or the compliment you have most enjoyed?

(It is not my question but the answer for me would be, "This girl... can really shovel gravel!!")

I don't take much notice of compliments but there have been a couple of times in my life when people have done me a good deed

The kindness of strangers

Who is your favourite character in a book and why

Oh it is a little embarrassing but it has always been Anne Eliot from Persuasion. Because she is gentle in the day-to-day but tough and unflinching in important things. I used to try very hard to be like her.

I like Viola in Twelfth Night because she is a swashbuckling rogue who cannot fight. She is a tremendous flirt whose love-speeches are simple and sincere. She is magically reunited with her lost sibling.

And Helen in Howard's End because I think she is brave.

These are not rational choices, just characters who have stayed with me over the years :)

I would like to hear a random truth - only this time, please say it in code

He is more likely to bring apple pie. If cake, chocolate, and he's very proud of himself for Supporting Local Businesses.

Most likely he just makes sad 'where is the cake' eyes.

My first infatuation for a decade.
USA electing... Whatever the hell THAT is.
Me thinking that infatuation could go anywhere.

I shall be frightfully unoriginal and repeat the questions since I enjoyed answering it.

What's something that stands out for you from 2025? How good people can be. Not everyone, but a lot more than gets credit.
Something good you'll keep? My Bazzite Linux computer (built from spare parts. Only had to buy a new case.)
Something bad you'll throw to the crows? My other Bazzite Linux computer built from OS's old computer (AMD FX-8350, 32GB RAM, lots of storage space) Why am I abandoning it? Whether it's Windows or Linux it has become unstable in the last year. (I'll keep the parts. I cannot through hardware away. I sometimes take it to get recycled.)
Something funny? What am I going to do with the motherboard and CPU? Probably put it in the basement with the other crippled motherboard. It is difficult to part with these things. Well, for me it is funny.

As the baby from Dinosaurs would say, "AGAIN! AGAIN!"

Something that stood out in 2025 I decided to stop wearing anything that looks like a German helmet, hard or cloth.

Something good I'll keep My Alpine hat.

Something bad I'll throw to the crows The time I had bedbugs.

Something funny Rediscovering the TV show, Benson after so many years.

One more time

What's something that stands out for you from 2025? Something good you'll keep? Something bad you'll throw to the crows? Something funny?

Something that stood out - I like and respect people here, and that's helped me relate to my own challenges in a more positive way.
Something good - reconnecting with old friends.
Something bad - foolish mistakes. But I am not throwing them out. I have things to - eugh - learn from them.
Something funny - I re-read Hitchhiker's Guide this year. I like Marvin.

My question: If you have a special interest, could you share something about it that very few people know?

Same question.

They sound like fascinating hobbies to me, AnonymousAnonymous. What's a language that nobody uses anywhere in the world?

I don't currently have a special interest, but when people show any hint of willingness to listen I've a bad habit of starting to recite y Gododdin, which is left over from an old one. I never learnt it properly all the way through but I can go on for a fair while if not checked.

My question: what's a favourite memory of yours? Is there a moment that stands out as especially fun or glad?
