Being called a fascist
This is what I mean by you create misunderstandings then. Case closed. Many people don't care about dictionary definitions and that argument won't go with them when you explain your position.
Having a definitive definition, via the dictionary, allows all to partake in the art of communicating effectively.
That only works if everyone listens to their meanings and clarifications and not assume they are cop outs they're using and if everyone used Google or dictionary definitions.
I can say all I want "I'm literal so everything i say here is literal, no hidden meaning" and that won't work. Been there.
It's like I can use the word ret*d and argue why its not offensive and pull up the dictionary to explain my position. People won't buy it. They will just think I used it to be an ableist and put down people with developmental disorders and intellectual impairments.

If you are referring to a person, the only definition relevant is this one:
From your link:
a contemptuous term used to refer to a person who is cognitively impaired.
a person who is stupid, obtuse, or ineffective in some way: a hopeless social ret*d.
The others don't involve humans.

You just proved my point. People cherry pick and don't care what definition meaning you were using. They just go for what they are looking for and ignore what meaning you were using like I showed in the quote.

No one cared what the word meant when he clarified. When I mentioned this on Reddit, I got told people will purposely use words with a slur in them to be racist and hide behind dictionary.
And this is how I learned why people are stupid and don't care about dictionary definitions. They just won't buy it. Sorry.

That is a hard one, I mean I could see why that could still be problematic even if they were using it appropriately. Since even if its not the same it is uncomfortably close to the racial slur, so people are going to make that association. I mean the Swastika was not initially a nazi symbol, but if you see one even in its original use you may still make the association.
Like IDK if they would allow someone to have a swastika as their avatar here even if its not the 'nazi' one but the one meant to represent the sun(I think it was something like that it was initially for) since too many people would be likely to associate it with nazism.
Also though some people do purposely use words with slurs in them to be racist, not sure it's the case with the guy you're talking about but that is not an unheard of tactic.

But still, people wouldn't care because of actions other people do and would still choose to not believe you when you explain your choice of words to them or your choice of an avatar just because of other peoples actions.
This is what I was trying to tell Pepe about when he chooses to bring up the "free thinking" term into this topic about the word fascist.
It's not about being a independent thinker, it's more about "How to avoid dealing with stupid people and getting consequences for their stupidity over a word I used."
And yes, people do use terms like "critical thinking" and being a independent thinker to be defiant or to deny history and science and to be racist. Pepe would say these people are wannabes as he told me in another thread. I did buy his explanation about his use of the word but would other people buy it?

The goal of critical thinking is to arrive at the most reasonable beliefs and take the most reasonable actions. We have evolved, however, not to seek the truth, but to survive and reproduce. Thus, critical thinking is an unnatural act. By nature, we're driven to confirm and defend our current beliefs, even to the point of irrationality. We are prone to reject evidence that conflicts with our beliefs and to attack those who offer such evidence.
The goal of thinking critically is simple: to guarantee, as far as possible, that one's beliefs and actions are justifiable and can withstand the test of rational analysis. In general terms, we can say that to think critically is to think clearly, accurately, knowledgeably, and fairly while evaluating the reasons for a belief or for taking appropriate action.
I do not know how to render an in-depth analysis of critical thinking without holding a week-long seminar and charging an exorbitant fee to attend.
Hmm... not a bad idea...

The mere fact that science may not yet adequately explain an object, event, or experience does not mean the immediate explanation should automatically default to a conspiratorial, extraterrestrial, paranormal, or supernatural cause.
When I was in high school, what it meant to be a critical thinker was to ask questions about a topic and be curious and seek answers. It never meant to deny history and to find proof why this history is wrong. There were even critical thinking questions in textbooks so I don't know why people are saying "critical thinking isn't taught anymore in school."
Did they remove these textbook questions or do they not like what the schools are teaching like maybe Black History and other dark history they don't like because it's uncomfortable. So when they try to deny that history and pretend it never happened, they feel they are being punished for "critical thinking."
Now here is me being a critical thinker about people saying why critical thinking is frowned upon now in school. ![]()

What are the rules regarding using the term "fascist", against other members, here on WP?
The very long topic, and banned member , have you forgotten so soon?
Alex made it clear, calling someone a racist is OK.
Surely, fascist is OK too.
Alex's statements were interpreted to mean that it's OK to call anyone anything, as long as you have supporting rationale to backup your opinion.
Many members, myself included, said to Alex, so this will allow free-for-all name-calling , and Alex seemed to shrug it off.

That is the issue.
You need a valid reason to call someone a fascist.
Some people simply throw out the insult, and when asked to explain, don't.
And that is against WP policy, as I understand it.
You seem to be highly opinionated and insist on posting it everywhere on this forum along with being highly argumentative. Your post history confirms this. Not surprising at all.
With all due respect, if you can't handle a little poo being flung your way then filter yourself already. I'm sure you'll want to debate the finer aspects of my response to you with me, in which case that's a no go.
