Thank you for posting, because my first thought was "Why?" Even though there is an Amish community near where I live, and I have a scattered (not intimate) knowledge about their way of life, and virtually nothing about their version of Christianity, I am not sure how they are any worse than other versions of Christianity. Anyway, again thank you because it led me to do some research on the Amish and Anabaptism
Every religion has aspects that ruins someone's life, except maybe Satanism. But Christianity would argue it f**ks up the afterlife.

well its because I am opposed to every denomination except the Church of Christ due to many reasons including theology so the Amish are just one of the denominations I disagree with. One of many. I do feel the same way about the Mennonites and the Anabaptists in general. You are welcome.


The problem with the mindset of "My church is right and every other church is wrong." is that everyone from every other church believes the same thing regarding their church compared to other churches, and they're just as likely to be right as you are.

I've never heard of the Chinese restaurant thing. I'm basing it on various things I've read about MSG, like that it's basically added to processed food to increase food cravings so you buy more of it, and the fact that it stops you from feeling full means it significantly increases the risks of diabetes and obesity.

Glutamate is a basic flavour component, we like how it tastes. Saying it's added to increase food cravings is like saying salt or sugar are added to increase food cravings, no they're added because we like how they taste.

Can you support the idea that glutamate stops one from feeling full? One would think this effect would be documented with regards to foods that are naturally high in glutamates as well, but from what I've read on that topic I've never seen that claim made, let alone supported. Generally I find foods high in glutamates to be quite filling, not that that conclusively proves anything.

MSG doesn't change the taste of food. What it does is it tricks your brain into thinking that a snack tastes way better than it actually does. The flavor is exactly the same either way. It's kinda like how poppy seeds don't really taste like much of anything, but because they have trace amounts of opium, that makes people crave the "taste" of poppy seed bagels a lot more.
