"In the aftermath of the controversy over a Japanese video game called RapeLay, the Japanese software industry has decided to take the easy way out and go for censorship. RapeLay, a game in which players scored points by stalking and raping a woman and her two daughters, created an international controversy when Equality Now discovered it being sold on Amazon."

I haven't even heard of it, but now that it's banned I want it! I want it! I want it!

I'm surprised that Japan would censor anything.

Disgusting ! I am glad that the game has been banned. The idea is plain sick.

That article very misleadingly implies the government is doing something ("Japan", "censorship"), even though it clearly states it's the industry doing that.

Which I take as putting drama creation over accuracy in reporting the news. I tend to ignore such sources.

But I've no problem with this "censorship".

Well, it's free speech, but it's at the expense of other people's safety, which overrides their right to free speech.

I'm surprised Japan would even think about banning or censoring such a game......:?

Well, depending on what you mean by "Japan", they didn't. I would take "Japan banned..." as government action. Which isn't what happened.

I myself will be interested to see the potential fall-out for stuff to be released.

Hentai movie companies often thrive on the rape aspect.

I'd interested about the wording. Does it only mean human rape because if so...they've left a massive f*****g blank cheque for other companies. Tentacles, ogres, animals...list goes on.

I think it'd only be human and human rape.
