Your place to discuss and celebrate all things Reptilian!

They're probably my favorite class of animal.
I've always identified with reptiles... particularly Turtles and Lizards.
Especially those that live in desert climates.

They are my favourite, too. Especially turtles. They're so beautiful and fascinating and I've always loved them and collected turtle things. My dream is to work with them (which will never happen until we join the EU, since reptiles are prohibited here).
I even identify with turtles, their surrounding shell and tendency to withdraw.

Always been a big fan of reptiles but never owned on. I've no idea why they interest me to be honest.

reptiles are sweet

ive only seen one wild one only once in norway:

crossed viper, vipera berus

Image

in norwegian "orm" means both "worm" and "snake" slange means "snake", but snake names here go by "worm" or "snok" (which is the same as english "snoop")
the crossed viper is known as "strike worm"
one of a total of 3 snakes encounterable here, +1 leg-less lizard (we call it "steel worm" :D)

Imagethis is the 2nd most common snake, considered harmless, this one exists in southern norway, never seen it :(

we also have lizards, but im ashamed to admit i dunno which species :(

theyre all able to hibernate

Not the same sort of reptile but a fitting tribute nonetheless. One of the greatest tracks ever made, in my humble opinion.

P.S. if you feel nothing but bemusement/confusion, just ignore.

Reptiles in norwegian fauna:

Snakes
Grass snake (Natrix natrix)
Smooth snake (Coronella austriaca)
Adder/ viper (Vipera berus)

Lizards
Viviparous lizard/ common lizard (Lacerta vivipara or Zootoca vivipara)
Slow-worm (Anguis fragilis)

No turtles or crocodiles/alligators/caymans.

The only one I've actually seen is the slow-worm.

Not actually a youtube video, so to see, I think you have to copy and paste to the address box. I volunteer at this zoo. shot this morning, right before I got there. Funny because the Gray Treefrog actually lands on the woman's hand. Also, shots with a Ball Python, Komodo Dragon, and Poison Dart Frogs. (See all four clips from 3.12.12.)

Edit: Just click on it--at least in my browser that worked.

I like Ball Pythons. They seem so cuddly for a snake. I also like Cornsilks and Cobras.

I'm mildly decent at drawing reptilian heads.

Yeah? I'd love to see any turtle you've drawn! :) I really wish I was good at drawing...
