Suggestions for not losing the memory cards? Put them in the game case.

I know where the card is the system gives you a hard time detecting the damn things.

Is it a first party memory card?

Lots of third party ones can lose data sometimes, or have difficulty being recognized by the console. Also, if the card has been heavily used or has some dusty connections, that's not going to help.

I'd take a visual look at the card's connections, and if they look clean, try it out on a friend's PS2. If that PS2 reads the card fine, it's probably your system that's got the trouble.

Which is horrible. Dead systems are a terrible feeling.

Sony uses Memory Stick. Not the best choice of name. You might be better of installing a Mem Stick in the console and using the format function so the system can and will be sure at writing to it correctly. I should have done that with my one. It's 2GB and I am pretty sure it's going to be FAT16 and in efficient. That doesn't bother me as most files on there break the standard boundary anyway.

Wouldn't it be better to keep all these Memory Sticks kept together in a static free or purpose designed case?
