I second that. There is no better time to be involved with the retro/classic scene than today. I get to enjoy games and accessories that would have been totally beyond my means when these systems were in the public domain.
The system I am most passionate about is the VIC 20. I have a collection of peripherals, software and accessories that would have cost in excess of £3,000 in the current economic climate. In addition to that, people are still designing new games and building new hardware that surpasses anything that was done for the machine back in the early eighties -- you could easily be forgiven for mistaking the graphics on one of these games for C64 graphics.
