Does anyone else have an overly emotional voice? I know a lot of people with AS speak in monotone but I have the opposite problem. Sometimes I sound like an excited teenager on tapes. I am loud, shaky and have a ton of emotion.

I think the "monotone" voice of AS is a poor concept.

Yes, I tend to talk in a monotone voice, but does my voice get emotional? Yes. Very easily if it's one of those things that set me off.

Typical AS behavior is either on or off. If something makes you emotional, your voice will reflect that. If it doesn't, you remain monotone.

"Normal" people tend to have more dynamic speech because their emotions flow in more varied amounts.

I agree with zer0netgain. If I'm in an emotional mood, my voice can definitely reflect that and I'll seem really over-emotional to my friends (we've had conversations where they've told me to calm down-- definitely not like me, usually). If I'm in a normal mood, my voice is normal (of course xD), and at times only somewhat monotone.

My mom says I wine a lot. Doesn't matter what I'm saying, apparently I sound like I'm complaining. Or, I'm super hyper and talk very fast non-stop.
