I had to use up all my link dolls to get there but after all these years I have defeated what is byfar the hardest zelda game ever.

Nintendo Power agrees: "The game cuts down on puzzle solving to focus heavily on action, and it's the most difficult Zelda game by far."

I have got through Zelda II several times. The first back when it was new. Also, I consider it the only game in the series to qualify as an action RPG.

AWESOME, that game is ridiculously difficult!

I was amazed that I made it through the great palce having used all the link dolls just getting there.At least when you got game over there you didnt start back at the dreaded north palace.If they ever want to implement sidescrolling in another zelda game I hope they follow the links awakening style and never implement a dreaded lives system.

It took me 3 years, and that was with a Game Genie.

I cant believe the 2 final bosses were so easy I had more trouble with the blue birdmen than the 2 bosses.Onward to link to the past

Yeah, I can never get past the Thunderbird.

The only time I ever beat the game was cheating on an emu using savestates.

On my actual cartridge, I maxed out all my levels, and I still suck at the final palace

BTW, when you're maxed out, you still get EXP, and it'll give you a level up, but nothing actually happens. Kind of interesting.

See what drove me crazy is that game applies to what Press Start calls "Bat Over Pit" theory, which is where you jump over a pit and some flying enemy gets in a cheap hit and knocks you to your doom. In Zelda's case it's those flying dragon heads. And since you only get three lives then have to start again at the North Palace it makes the game WAY harder than it needs to be.

I hate when games do that,that always annoyed me about castlevania.

There are many worse things in that game than "bat over pit", IMO

And at least it's not like the first Ninja Gaiden, where that's prettymuch the entire game.

Oh yea the re-spawning falcons. I HATED that. It's even worse in the third game, where barrages of enemies just come at you. In the final level it just goes ON AND ON and by the time you get to the final boss you have almost no health or lives left. You're just like "You gotta be kidding me! No fair!". The first two were hard but the third one is just sadistic.

I thought LTTP was easy.

I dunno if I'd call it "easy", because it took me forever to beat it the first time through (then again I was 8 and I didn't have a guide). I'd call it balanced. It's challenging, but not impossible.

Of course now I can beat it in my sleep. I think my best time is a little under 4 hours.

Maybe I just thinks its easy because it doesnt have a lives system because if it did it would have been impossible and you didn't start at the north palace every time.

I dont thinks thats only Ninja Gaiden the whole series is plagued by the problem of being harder than they need to be.The bat over the pit problem makes some points in this and all of castlevania prior to symphony of the night alot harder than it need to be to a point were for me the fun runs itself extreamly thin.

The very first Gameboy Castlevania title which came out twenty years ago is being released for Wiiware soon with all-new graphics and two extra levels. That game was very difficult.
