I divide it into 2;

1. Cold and not very open people.

2. They love to learn, and sees life as a happy one.

They're blondes who have messy hair, and speak Swedish in such a way that we can't make out anything they say.

They live in red wooden houses in the forest and drink like swine when they seldomly get the chance to (by visiting Copenhagen). And eat huge round knäckebröd.

Like Norwegians and Danes, though more boring when you overlook the cultural aberrations of Raggare, Death Metal. No Devil Worship or church burning as in Norway, and not as mountainous, but has more terrain variation than Denmark. Home to two auto brands, both are good, but one will soon be defunct due to selling out the a large US based automaker. Like Norway and Denmark, the Janteslagen prevails.

Coming from the UK, I have not really come across stereotypes that distinguish Swedes, Danes, Norwegians, Icelandics or Finns. The popular stereotype, I guess, is of Scandinavians all speaking an incomprehensible language that just sounds to us like "hurdy gurdy hurdy gurdy".

If any Scandinavians ever get singled out, I suppose it is the Swedes (perhaps just cos Sweden's the largest Scandinavian country). The stereotype I hear of Swedes is that they supposedly have very liberal ideas about sexual matters, just as the Dutch are supposed to have very liberal ideas about drugs. I suppose for this reason (??) when people in the UK think of high suicide rates in Scandinavia, they tend to think of the other Scandinavian countries like Norway and Finland. Norway does have those black metal bands I suppose.

I always found it kind of interesting that the Finnish language is closer to Hungarian than to Swedish or Norwegian.

Swedish is a very hot/beautiful language! :) I'm a second generation Swedish American. :)

I don't know if it's a stereotype, but I've heard the 'stereotype' that all Scandinavians have blonde hair and blue eyes, which I know isn't true.

It isn't. I don't, for instance.

I'm a Swede! :wink:

I think they have lots of prejudices, but perhaps the entire world has.
