Do you aspies not care much about the clothes you wear, as long as they are comfortable? Have you had the same clothes for years and don't see the point in getting new ones if the old clothes still fit and are not worn out? Also, have you ever worn something that was worn out but did not realise it?
My aspie friend once came to class in his old jeans which had a hole right in his crotch area! He did not notice.......

I have clothes from when I was in high school, very few from when I was in middle school and elementary. I still have a pair of shorts and a shirt from when I was ten and a shirt I got for my 11th birthday and some clothes from when I was in 6th grade.

I have been told some of my clothes are worn but I wear them anyway. I wear whatever I like and what I find comfortable. I even sew up seems that rip open.

I don't buy new clothes anymore because I have enough and I don't like clothes shopping. I am the same way about bras. I have only gotten clothes on spontaneous. I'd be at second hand stores looking and then I would see something I like and get it. Then I decided to stop so I don't look at them anymore and then I do, I have to resist and I have a chance of walking out of the store with purchased clothing

Most of my clothes come from second hand stores.

I must admit that I don't like throwing away clothes, and wear some really tatty stuff. Have only gotten some new stuff because I don't like the way I'm treated when I wear old stuff.

Additionally, now that I've discovered that cut up old t shirts and socks make excellent cloths for cleaning up after my cats, I've been quite enthusiastic about getting rid of old clothes. I suppose that being able to see a purpose in discarding the garments is what enables me to get rid of them.

I wear clothes until I wear them out. Completely. I've had family and friends after me about my clothes for many years, but they have mostly given up (I'm 40+, so I've worn them out too I suppose). My cats have nothing to say about my clothing, though they do like to sleep in piles of laundry or play with socks.

I have clothes from ten years ago. I bought some stuff last year and two pairs of jeans this year.....I see them lasting several years. I don't see them point in being seen with new clothes all the time. If something isn't broken, why fix it? This whole concept of being seen in new clothes every season and wearing different clothes every day is a ploy used by businesses to make us buy stuff. I would much rather spend my money on travel and other interests, but sometimes I have no choice as I have a good job and don't want to be seen as abnormal in this area.

no I don't care. And I don't see why having a hole in something renders it trash. As long as it's not indecent exposure. My favorite jacket is a north face I got at goodwill for 5 dollars about 5 years ago, it has a gaping hole in the back that catches on everything, it's probably a good 6 inches in diameter, but I am not giving this jacket up until the hole is bigger than me and it falls off when I put it on.

Well, a hole in the crotch area is a bit indecent, don't you think? Obviously he did not realize what he was wearing....As this guy is middle aged, one of my friends commented, "doesn't he have a woman to take care of him?" She does not realize that he has AS and does not care much about things like clothes.

Since I'm a bit punk, I get away with wearing my clothes until they are dead six times over. Plus, I kind of prefer it that way--especially a good-fitting pair of ratty jeans. Sadly, I felt compelled to put to rest a pair that I've had for some time now as they were definitely due. It's okay though, I've another pair replacing them as my skate jeans.

Being Mod, I like to buy a lot of vintage clothes from thrift stores. I also buy new clothes, such as black jeans and men's turtlenecks. I even bought a men's dress shirt for $5.00 and sewed lace onto the cuffs and the front on both sides of the button closure. I want to look my best, at all times. I just don't want to wear the prissy, form-fitting clothes that they make for women and teenaged girls, these days. I don't want people to know my gender, right away. I want them to know my name, before they know my gender. That's the reason that I prefer clothes that have a unisex look and feel to them. If I want to wear something tight, I'll wear a ladies bathing suit, and I rarely wear one in the summertime.

I can only wear T-shirts and shorts. I can't tolerate pants or dresses whatsoever. All of my shirts have to have an animal or something related to my special intrest on them. My best friend was helping me organize my closet one day and she said, "All your clothes have animals on them!" I never noticed it before but she was right. I don't know if it's an autistic issue or not but seeing a soild colored shirt with no picture at all makes me cringe. It's as if it is begging to be painted. I can't stand plain white walls either. It's like a giant canvas. My parents have always insisted on painting their areas of the house (everywhere but my bedroom) white because it was supposedly a calming color. When I get my own place, there is going to be murals everywhere. I won't wear clothes with people on them and that includes singers and celeberties. I would never wear frilly girly clothes as a child and would strip if someone was dumb enough to dress me like that. I also think it's rediculous to spend fifty dollars on one pair of jeans at the store when I can get them for a buck or less at the thrift store. I want to spend my hard earned money on things I enjoy such as art supplies and Pippin needs to eat and is quite picky. I only buy brand new clothes if they somehow incorperate my special intrests.

i try to care for my clothes i guess... i like them to be clean and fresh, ironed if they require it, hung neatly or placed away. i like order. :D

clothes kept well last, so i have a lot of clothes that are a few years old (the cargo shorts i am currently wearing are 10 years old) that are still more than OK... once or twice i have not noticed how worn the stitching in my pants has been  hehe

buying clothes usually occurs 3 or so times a year; depending on the season it means jeans or a jacket/hoodie, shirts, polo shirts (i have a few! heheh), or knee length shorts (no short shorts! lol)... underwear and socks, sneakers, and shoes are purchased as necessary :thumleft:.

I have a winter coat I will not get rid of. My husband thinks it's a wreck all because the sleeve as a rip in it. Okay having a rip in something does not mean it is crappy and I need a new one. He isn't seeing the overall picture.
