This American holiday is considered the epitome of Summer-- this alone makes me really dislike it. It is set in the sunny, boisterous, loud and usually group-oriented world which I have no interest in. Fireworks. Big deal. Once you see one fireworks show you've seen them all. This day is based on a sentimental memory from childhood of barbecues and picnics, family "fun" and solar worship.

Are there any other American AS here that plan on no plans for this holiday?

I didn't celebrate Canada Day, nor am I celebrating The Fourth of July. I celebrate Victoria Day, instead.

Not yet.
if anything, prolly visit the folks.

Though since my birthday is only a week after the 4th, i really can just skip the fireworkfestival and still have enough celebration left in my July :)

Working all day on the fourth.

But I'm not one for holidays and a bonus never hurts, so this is a good thing.

i'll be indoors blasting my music to try to drown out the din outside. with any luck it will be raining here so as to put a bit of a damper on the mayhem.

I have always disliked Independence Day and avoid any and all celebrations related to it. When I was a kid and my parents would take us to go see fireworks I'd just wait in the car and read until they were done.

Me too probably. If my mom is back before then I'll probably be made to go out to dinner.

It's probably going to rain on the Fourth of July in my area, so I probably won't be able to do anything anyway. However, I do enjoy watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. It seems I'm the only responder to this thread who actually enjoys this holiday.

I gonna sit in my yard with my dog, drink beer, barbecue a pork lion, and watch the neighbors maim themselves and their children with illegal fireworks!

Umm.... but I WON'T enjoy it! :x
