My husband has been saying this to me lately. He thinks I have weird views of the world and about stuff.

Just about every one I meet thinks so. That is because I do have strange views.

Yes. People used to tell me there was something wrong with me becuase I cared about animals more than people and I hid it for years but later I realised that there is nothing wrong with it because humans are senslessly cruel creatures. My mom told me that as a child I seemed to care more about inamate objects than people and that I was very materlistic.

Sometimes, yes. They don't explicitly say it but I can sense it by the words they use in response.

Today we had an argument about what I wear and I have a coat he doesn't like because the sleeve is ripping. I have some clothes he thinks are ratty looking and he said the way I dress makes people perceive me differently. They'd think I'm poor and I said so what because they don't know me and he said it's how people treat me based on how they perceive me. I asked him how do they treat me? Bad? and he said no. I don't really care what people think because they don't know me so I wouldn't care if they thought I was poor and besides how would he know what they think? He can't even read their minds. If I walked into a Gamestop and bought a game wearing that coat, they wouldn't even care because just as long as I have the money, they don't care. They're not going to tell me if I am sure I can afford the game and it be my own problem if I couldn't pay all my bills because I bought a game instead. All they care about is making money so they're not going to care what I have on, just as long as I have the money to buy the game, it doesn't matter. He said I have strange views on stuff.

I don't see how that is strange? Because I don't care how people perceive me based on what I wear? It's not going to even stop cashiers from selling me something and I have a job already so it doesn't matter what I have on.

Well, I definitely think a lot of people use self-fulfilling selective reasoning far too often, <COUGH>the after-life<COUGH> talking about getting what you deserve out of life, for example, when everything else about reality screams event, probability and result. In other words, it's disgusting how shamelessly some people can mistake meaning as it pertains to action and consequence with meaning as it pertains to explaining why you're here and why things are destined to happen to you.

I'm just more rational and considerably smarter than most of the people I meet. My views aren't strange at all, the rest of the world is just comprised primarily of idiots, so they can't comprehend my viewpoint.

What's strange is actually meeting someone whose head isn't permanently embedded in their @ss.

I get told by my family, that I certainly have a different way, of looking at things.

I've had that argument quite a few times with my family.

Relative to the conservative county that I live in, I feel like I have a lot of left leaning views and a lot of views towards politics in general that would seem abnormal. Being a huge fan of Nietzsche and existentialism might also be a bit odd at my age as well.

I've been told that people think I must have "low self-esteem" if I dress a certain way (i.e., "sloppily", "too casually"--everything I call "comfortable"). To me, that's counterintuitive--dressing the way I want to and not caring what others think of it equals HIGH self-esteem, IMO.

Some people might, because I am a Christian and vote Republican, but I support same-sex marriage and medical marijuana, and I am interested in a lot of things that the stereotypical conservative would likely not be interested in.
