It kinda sucks, because everybody plays games these days. The only way I have a connection to the world of video games anymore is vicariously through siblings that talk about them. I almost feel left out of life because of it. Kids these days are so smart, too, and I feel so dumb and technologically behind. Anyone here relate?

Most video games are a total waste of time. I stopped playing them frequently last year.

I was addicted to console games (Nintendo, Sega, Super Nintendo, Play Station 1 & 2) until I discovered that my computer could be a toy as well as a tool at age 42.

I'm 45 now and still "dibs" the computer on my four kids who range in age from 17 to nine.

Though, I do know what you're talking about. I'm lost when it comes to ipods, iphones and ipads. I just can't seem to get into the latest console games either, like PS3 & XBox360. The graphics are just too extreme for me and I get seriously confused and frustrated.

It doesn't make you dumb either, in my opinion.

Who knows?...You'll probably find that you'll get back into it again one day and be addicted all over again! One of those siblings of yours can probably show you how to play some of the latest games too. :P

I'm not into video games either. I stopped playing them regularly when I was around 16.

I gave up video games at like, 10. I've never really liked problem solving or role playing. And why go on an adventure with a video game when there are adventures outside you can experience with all your senses?

I've stopped playing video games, when I was 29.

I still love RPGs and a few other games and genres, but I don't find myself as interested in as many games as I used to be.

Long gave up on consoles.

I've been an avid strategy and wargamer since the age of 10. I blame Carrier Command, Dragon Lord/Breath and Civilization for this.

I like creating complex creations or interconnecting networks of trade and commerce in economic and city building genres. I like designing my own space navy and trying differnt design approaches in 4x games. I like organising logistics and executing and adapting an offensive operation in grognard (hardcore wargames all meat barely any decent graphics or fluff) levels of complexity and understanding of the subject.

Though when not in the mood a bit of CS:S or DOD will do the trick just fine :P

I like RPGs and sandbox games. Games with lots of choice. I like experimenting and seeing the outcomes of my actions.

Someone really needs to make a modern Elite clone. It's been too long, and the X series doesn't cut it.

I can totally relate to this. I got burnt out on video-games rite after I graduated high-school when my mom bought a computer & got net. I haven't played much sense. Most of the games I play nowadays are old RPGs that wer made for SNES or game-boy(like 1st couple Final Fantasy games or Blue/Red/Yellow Pokemon games) but I play em on computer with an emulator. The most advanced game system I have is a ps2 & that's only cuz one of my friends gave m his a while back & I only have a couple games for it that I never really played; I mainly use it to play DVDs. I mostly know about old vidoe-games like SNES & 64. I do not have the attention spam to play games on counsels anymore. I keep zoning out & getting distracted so by playing on computer I can divide my attention to keep from zoning out; sort of multitasking(I blame meds I was on)

I don't play themas much as use to... Probably because there's nothing out that's been released that looks interesting to me anymore... The last games I got were Mario games (New SMB Wii, and Galaxy 2) and while they were fun they ended pretty fast.

I usually get very into a single game, play it non-stop, then all interest just dies for me - it's been Guild Wars for the past year - now I can't get the motivation to play it.. which is probably good.. leaves me time to do more productive things until something fun comes along.

I have phased out of playing video games because I have realized that at the end of the day, when the game is finished - I have not *accomplished* anything - in real terms, I have gotten one pixellated image to shift into another pixillated image. With my limited time on this plane, I would rather do things that result in a concrete accomplishment (like, say, writing a book)

However, not all video game time is wasted. There are a few games which I have actually learned a lot from, and have even inspired me to take a new direction in my life. I credit the fact that I am studying History today to playing Sid Meier's Civilization and Centurion: Defender of Rome as a kid

I'm that way too. The games I like tend to have the most longevity of all genres, though.

Also... Guild Wars 2 early next year!

One of my favourite games is the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series which got seriously into learning about China. :D
