the preacher doing this has a screw loose, as do his supporters. two wrongs never make a right. but it seems in today's america, that three wrongs DO make a right.

First it was charactures of Muhammad and now this.

Not sure what difference it's going to make other than to get a rise out of muslims which seems to have worked the last time they banned FB from some of its users in places like Pakistan.

Actually, the whole business is terribly silly. A clear indication chimpanzees are more advanced than humans since they disdained the discovery of fire.

Against it but they have the right to do it as I said in the other thread. I don't really care about Muslims being offended and personally feel Islam should be criticized but this isn't productive at all.

I'm participating in the 9/11 Buy a Qur'an Day, a counterprotest in which everyone is encouraged to buy a new Qur'an on 9/11 to show solidarity with (or identity with) Muslim communities. Mine might technically be an iPhone Qur'an app, but I'm definitely participating.

I oppose the burning, but since they're protected by the First Amendment, nothing can really be done about it.

But my imagination runneth over: What if the Prophet arose out of the ashes and smote the infidels responsible for this dumb and dumber deed?

I'm a Christian, and I'm completely against this. In fact, I have a Qur'an at home, and have read it. Reading books, rather than burning them, is always the best option.

The US Supreme Court has already (symbolically) burned the Bible at the stake so why give an exemption to the Koran?

Perhaps President Obama could conduct a public book burning ceremony (publicity gimmick) at the White House to raise money to balance the budget?

Books Obama could burn in public (to raise revenues derived from ticket sales to balance the budget) could include such books as: Mad Magazine, the Bible, the Koran, and TV Guide.*

The National Enquirer is probably one of the most reputable news sources in our country sadly.

What's funny is the result as it stands right now with 8% supporting is what I had said yesterday that I thought would be a representation of the public at large for who would be supporting such an act. Actually, I said that 8% would be on the high end but considering the small scope, the adjustment from 5% to 8% is more than reasonable (and probably a little low).
