Every so often, a new thread appears in the Love & Dating forum, and if it describes abuse by women against men, many of the women who respond do so in an effort to abuse the men who post. Attacks can take a variety of forms, ranging from overt flames to appeals to the majority, but their sole aim is to humiliate and discredit while maintaining a thin guise of discussion.

People with Asperger's are emotionally vulnerable and often subject to psychological abuse. This is particularly true of men with Asperger's, who cannot rely on social networks such as those that have been estabished by feminism over the course of the last 70 years in order to understand the mentalities of those who might seek to prey on them. The last thing we need is for a group of trolls to dissuade genuine, helpful, informative discussion in a forum that could help protect men with Asperger's against abuse.

Don't you know? Only men can be abusers and only women can be victims.

please, PLEASE, tell me that was sarcasm! 8O

i don't know what thread is being spoken of, but i see verbal/mental abuse by women toward men all the time irl. i've even seen some physical abuse. it's all as unacceptable as it would be the other way around. all people should be treated with respect, regardless of gender.

If I do indicate it was sarcasm, I might have people demanding my banishment based upon being anti-feminist.

i don't understand how objecting to unprovoked attacks by one person on another is anti-feminist? you didn't say women don't have equal rights...

i'm confused. story of my life.

I think anyone who doesn't agree with his opinion is a member of the female troll squad. I think I became a member of the female troll squad in his most recent thread about s**t tests. Lol.

Really some of this misogynistic ranting is probably more appropriate and understood at the Roissy and love-shy sites. I'm sure I'll be criticized for writing that.

I think I just figured out the problem after reading the messages in the Moderator Attention thread. Any disagreement with a person's opinion is viewed as a deliberate personal attack against that person. Now it makes sense...

i don't see any female trolls over there, with the exception of one person who was banned. i do see lots of men who genuinely ask for help.... and lots of other men who like to blame their problems on women.

well, i guess it makes sense that people in a societal position of power must jealously guard that power.

this SLAYED me! i was laughing so hard!

i should also add to my last comment... i do also see some women behave badly in the WP forums, not just men. but i will always speak up if women are denigrated or sterotyped, or if men feel it is necessary to speak badly of women in general. if women are portrayed by men on WP to be manipulative, money-hungry, shallow b*****s, i will argue against it.

I thought is was really funny too - but that is because it was humorous misogyny not bitter misogyny.

I too do not like generalizations - I think both men and women constantly misunderstand each other - and use those miscommunications as an excuse to bash all in the opposite gender.

Many of us have trust issues and baggage from past relationships or experiences but it is not helpful (or productive) to project those issues onto those who did not cause them.

There are good reasons to blame certain problems on women when the causes of these problems relate to behaviours characteristic of women rather than men (regardless of whether these behaviours are culturally ingrained or inborn, occur in 5% or 50% or 95% of all women). Attempting to deride or humiliate those who wish to discuss these problems in order to prevent those discussions essentially prevents them from finding a way to solve these problems.

Imagine what it would be like if I made a post in the sexual predator thread in the women's forum, intending to mock the people who shared their stories there. This would not only be unproductive, but it would also constitute further abuse.

I do not look at this from the perspective of "power", as I think it is more a matter of being comfortable to discuss issues that trouble people.
