I really want to listen to some music with a saxophone in it. Keep in mind I'm a picky guy that likes faster heavier music and the majority of Blues, Jazz, and etc. is way out of my league.

Lets put it this way, I really don't like George Michael but I like Careless Whisper as performed by him far more than I like it done by Seether, mostly because it has a real sax rather than that (comparatively) weak sounding guitar substitute. Even though I think the Seether version has a lot better of a vibe to it and I prefer the (slightly) manlier sound of the vocalist's singing. None of the other instrumentals really impress me, just the sax.

I know what Ska is and I like it to a degree though I can't really think of any newer (1980+) Ska bands who I've heard make good use of a sax and I don't really know nor think I'd like any older stuff since I don't really like anything pre-80s aside from AC/DC and stuff.

Anyone got some good suggestions?

Try some Gary Moore - very under rated in the States...any of his blues stuff, but ya' know he founded Thin Lizzy... oh god my age is showing..

Well if you're into faster, heavier music I don't know how much you would like Bruce Springsteen music, but he's my second favorite artist/band (after Pearl Jam) and I like fast heavy metal as well. The E Street Band is his backup and Clarence Clemons (aka The Big Man) plays the sax.

Jungleland has an AMAZING sax solo in it, and I would reccommend pretty much everything on Born to Run. His more current stuff (The Rising, etc.) is a little more organic with less sax but it's still great.

Like the description says; greatest sax record ever. I don't know if this falls outside of your boxes or not. It ain't AC/DC.

Might take some getting used to but I'm kinda digging the Bruce Springsteen. Moog, I like the sax in that track but it overall just sounds like something you'd expect to hear in an old movie in a construction yard as a bus lets off in the morning. No offense to your taste I just want you guys to know what I'm looking for so I can find what I'm craving. Better luck next time!

No offence taken. I think it's good for what it is, but it's no sacred cow of mine.

well I hope you like the Springsteen, sometimes he does take some getting used to.

For example my dad really likes non-mainstream new age stuff - so he respects Springsteen as a writer but isn't really into his music.

I usually listen to him when I'm in a good mood. When I'm pissed off, I pull out all my depression days stuff.

Angelo Moore of Fishbone. Legendary frontman who oozes stage presence and great sax player.

Edit: I posted this song because it does feature a great sax solo.

This I'm digging! The lyrics are a little on the cheesy side but I love the beat.

Eh, I can see the lyrics not being for everyone and Angelo's lyrics particularly come from his own interpretation of language and metaphor but his playing cannot be denied.

The Dead Kenny G's. The sax player's (stage) name is Skerik. Skerik is also very awesome and makes great use of effects pedals.

Candy Dulfer - some of her stuff is sort of slow instrumental, but she also does a lot of uptempo "funky" type stuff.
