When you are having an absence seizure, believe it or not, your nervous system is actually overstimulated, while in inattentive ADD, your nervous system is understimulated.
I have a diagnosis of ADHD-PI, I find that my main problem by far is caused by overstimulation but at the same time I usually crave stimulation, unless I happen to be engrossed in a new interest. Kind of goes like this generally:
1.Search for intense stimulation of any of my senses.
2.Be intensely stimulated by whatever it is I am doing/watching/listening to etc.
3.Have fun, eventually crash because I overloaded my system/brain.
4.End up in a spaced out daze for inordinate amount of time.
