Aside from how much it would cost to fix...it is rather surreal. This is a video of the roof actaully caving in

I thought Teflon was indestructable.

Thought the same thing about Brett Favre at once too.

I would have thought the structure was designed to withstand that amount of snow being on it considering it's location.
I get the impression that someone let one too many maintenance checks slip...

This is the 4th time it has happen in metrodome's 28 year old history. The company that made the roof said it needed to be replaced. The
Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission owns and operates it, obviously they failed in getting it replaced. It's time for a new stadium.

really wow, talk about a design blooper. The lemon of sport stadiums. Good thing this happened when it did, they were about to play a game in there, but canceled it because of the weather. I lived in Minnesota for 2 years, they have some wicked weather there.

Something similar happened in Invercargill, NZ:

http://www.3news.co.nz/Bad-design-heavy ... fault.aspx

Had a mammoth snow storm, but design and welding was still not adequate.

Having read books on building collapses, poor design in relation to overloading forces is the most common factor in stadium failures.

Aren't they already building a new stadium? Or was that just for the Twins?

That's why you clear snow off the roof.
