As marijuana has a different effect for everyone, i was wondering
have any of you tried it, and if so, do you feel it helped ease your anxiety and depression?
I have been using it for 6 years now and the only reason i do, is because i myself feel better and less worried all the time than when i dont consume, note i do not smoke marijuana as that is harmful to the body.

i know its not addiction because i have quit for periods of months to years at random times throughout my life. and marijuana is not mentally or physically addictive.

most of the time i am fidgety and always wondering if people are thinking or talking about me behind my back, when i use it seems as to make me not care that people think im weird, i calm down, i actually autodidact more often and find it easier to learn things, my interest in things grow when i use, it tends to catalyze my brain to record and analyze more things at once.
my sensory overload is lessened, i can go to concerts and such when i smoke and the music dosent bother me being so loud, and i find it easier to talk to my peers.

I know some kids with AS who live in colorado and california and they have it prescribed to them by their physicians.

but, let me know what you think, i am interested to see how you all feel about it.

Its great stuff. I like to smoke on the weekends, usually to stargaze with my telescope or play videogames. Reading and writing are also fun, as is playing guitar or bass. Its been of great use to me in treating my chronic migraines and lifelong struggle with insomnia. I would probably be asleep right now if I had some weed and not pointlessly up doing nothing and getting so tired yet unable to do anything about it

I smoked it on and off throughout highschool until a few years ago. It made me social and able to articulate my words and talk more. I loved those aspects but it felt like I was losing too much control. It made me less educated, more lazy .. It was good for a time but I wouldn't rely on it as a permanent solution and I moved on. I wouldn't rule out ever doing it again, it's just I choose not to for now.

It was a horrible experience for me. I felt 10x more paranoid than usual, was convinced everyone was talking about me and that I was acting weird. Certainly isn't something I'd try again.

this, lol though as the rest of Vigilans' post said it can help one to enjoy many things even more.
it can still be addictive however, not physically like tobacco but i was definitely addicted in my opinion, smoking almost all day, every day for a few years & experiencing very unpleasant withdrawal symptoms when i went without.

I just get really dumb and nothing can harm me. I have problems with talking, moving and everything. I hate smoking weed.

This should be in the General Autism forum, I think, where there are already numerous threads on weed.

Didn't really realize how awkward the wording was until after I posted.

im glad some people responded to this.
sorry i posted in wrong forum if i did.

i've been thinking that it may be addictive to an extent if you start to not care that you smoke.
i know plenty of people who have and lost control of their lives, and if thats the case, clearly weed is not for them.

I've tried it. It makes me super paranoid and anxious. I don't like it.

Makes me paranoid and even more confused in social situations than I usually am, which is not good. Oxycontin on the other hand....

It works wonders for me and I smoke as often as possible! It curbs my anxiety, makes me less inhibited, brings up my appetite, quells my digestive problems, and helps me sleep better.

it almost completely gets rid of my social phobia/anxiety and my depression the on ly time i get paranoid is if im smoking outside i been smoking for bout 5 years now and i have gone up to months without it(a whole year my freshman year cuz i was on probation still for getting arrested with a switchblade 4 days before 8th grade graduation) and my body and/or mind NEVER went through any sort of withdrawal i did perfectly fine without it though i admit my life was a LOT more boring when i quit for awhile. these days i smoke nearly on a daily basis and actually hang out with friends, before i started doing this i was the most antisocial person in California, we have a great time and great memories of wen we high, yes we can remember everything the next day, and my friend Emily usually videotapes most of them and we watch em to laugh at our crazy antics :D  8)

i smoke regularly, instead of large quantities of alcohol in social contexts, to help with anxiety, to help with insomnia, but most of all it is because i enjoy the relaxed feeling it gives me.
though it can get out of hand if one doesnt keep it in check.
