That almost describes me to a tee, except for two things. I have a very strong identity, and I don't stim and bounce.

That chart describes me so well it's embarrassing. I feel like I've been the subject of a covert study.

Hmmm... With the exception of those traits that are specifically contrasted with those of her "male counterparts," I don't see very many of the traits on this list as being distinctly female. Do others? I could probably pick out a couple dozen at least, but for example: "will often have trouble holding onto a job"; "words and actions are often misunderstood by others"; "can be very shy or mute"; "enjoys reading and films as a retreat." I could go on and on... Distinctly female? Really?

All but three, I think.

Anyway, I don't think these traits are distinctly female so much as they're traits she recorded that women reported. There's a lot of overlap with men, but I think that's perhaps because the presentation is similar and it's the interpretation that differs.

I see your point, rainingroses, but then again this chart is the only thing I've read that details the specific ways Asperger's manifests in girls in society (the "in society" part is probably the key thing here). I feel little to no connection to the syndrome reading the diagnostic criteria but this chart is eerily accurate at least for me. I don't know, do male Aspies tend to, for example, jump and run and dance around singing when they're happy like the chart notes? I was so taken aback to find that was a typical trait in Aspie girls. I do it all the time and didn't think it was weird til I read the chart. I don't know any male Aspies in real life so I wouldn't know if they do this too.

I'm technically HFA b/c I was diagnosed w/ PDD at 18 months and this chart describes me almost perfectly except a few things.

The aspie males I've met (no offense to other aspie males) are typically freakin' bland and unfortunately, when it comes to dealing with creepy guys I'd say 7-8 out of 10 were on the spectrum and the other were just mentally ill/jerkwads.

Hah! Well sounds like you've had some pretty boring and/or awful experiences with the Aspie guys you've known!

I'm sure I can come off as bland also in my effort to not offend or not be noticed. Like wallpaper at times I bet.

(By the way I might live near you Peko! That has nothing to do with anything but I live near Philadelphia, which qualifies as Eastern PA!)

I do that too......I run and bounce around my room! I've also never seen that described in books on AS and I've read a lot lately.....

It is truly scary how accurate that list was for me.
2 things were off, and that was it. I don't have trouble holding on to a job because I tend to obsess over getting everything right the first time and doing it quickly (the social bits are scary for me though.) I also don't come across as cold or unfriendly; at least that is what people tell me (self centered, yes). Instead, I seem to inspire mothering in other people. They want to take care of the shy, sweet girl (which can be a bit embarrassing and overloading to me).

I first read this list from a post in the women's section (a few days ago). This made me seriously consider the possibility that I'm not just an asocial NLDer but an Aspie.
Yeah, I don't bounce around so much now but when I was in Jr High and went to dances I would get so excited I would just jump up and down the whole time. Nobody wanted to appear connected to me in any way.

I'm not all that into music and my sensory stuff, while there, are mostly mildish. I have strong restricted interests but I'm not sure that they're classical 'special' interests. Other than that, it's me.
