Four of my friends are going away to Europe in May and I am jealous of this. I applied for this trip but was rejected; and the kind of hurt me because I feel like I am not good enough. I don't fit into this world at all. I don't have good communication skills and therefore I hardly ever speak. Yesterday I had to do a a presentation and I could hear in my voice how monotonous it is and how bad of a speaker I am. I just looked at my piece of paper for five minutes until I was done presenting the material I had to do. Then in the afternoon a friend invited me to go out for a drink at the campus bar and restaurant and there were three other guys and two girls, and I hardly spoke at all. I just don't know how to. Now I have so much anxiety today because my friends are doing cool things, and one of the reasons they can succeed is because they know how to make friends.

you can try to learn some of those things....
idk if youve tried that or thought about that. im sure you are good enough maybe its just that you are good in a different way.

my other advice is RELAX! lol its ok do something fun that you enjoy if you are really anxious because of all this. i know i have to remind myself all the time to relax and i have people telling me to relax all the time too. but it helps, i get worked up over stuff and stressed out and i just need to calm down and focus on one thing at a time or just completely take a break. and then go back and focus on one thing and fix that, make it better, learn something that will help you get what you want. :)

hope this helps a little :)

I know I have to learn these skills but I don't know where to start learning.

do you have a student support office or something on campus where there are counselors and people to help with academic support and such? try to find out about that. there should be some sort of counseling service and they should be able to either help you with these skills or at the very least help you find someone who can help you.

I am suppose to be meeting with a student support person, but we are finding it difficult arranging a time to meet up for coffee or something like that, and exams start next week and then school is done until September.
