Hello everyone. My name is Mimi and I have undiagnosed asperger's. I wanted to join this site to get to know people...where I currently live there isn't a lot of support or help for aspies, so it's kind of frustrating.

I'm a college student, looking forward to starting film school in the Fall.

So just thought I'd say hi...if you want to know anything else about me feel free to ask, and I'd love to get to know all of you.

I'm a college student (business administration major) and a "self-diagnosed" aspie. I always wondered what was wrong with me til some time last year when I started reading about autism and it's various forms. There's not much support in my area either, and it's not like I live in the middle of nowhere.

How did you come across Aspergers Syndrome? Did you just stumble upon it like I did, or was it suggested to you?

In answer to your question I kind of stumbled upon it after doctors stopped being able to help me. I was already being treated for other disorders (OCD and bipolar), but I kind of knew there was something more to it. So essentially after discovering that there wasn't much support from the local medical community I decided to research it myself. After finding a lot of information about Asperger's the description fit perfectly, so that's basically the point I'm at right now.

It's very reassuring to know that there are websites like this...I feel a lot better now, especially since I've been battling this alone for years.

I am originally from Seattle, Washington but I am now living in New York. For the time being, I will be working but as soon as I move back closer to my mother, I hope to go to college. People have thought that I would go to the local community college in my area, but I am too far away from my mother, and she can't stand it. This way, my mother can find out how well I'm doing more easily.

That's cool, I was considering going to music school a few years ago to study performance. What kind of music do you like? I actually ended up studying theatre performance and creative writing at the last college I went to (I absolutely love playwriting/screenwriting), but switched to film because it combines a lot of the artistic mediums that I'm interested in.



What are you thinking about majoring in? I went to a college close to my hometown for the same reason. But I found that it really did help to go through the adjustment period in a place that's familiar before moving far away.

I love all sorts of music...my favs are hip-hop, indiepop, and "college rock" from the 80's (Pixies, The Smiths, that kinda stuff). That's funny, I wanted to major in creative writing in college but my school didn't have it...so I majored in theatre and emphasized in playwriting! I'd like to do it more but I'm lacking a venue...
