Last night, my fiance and I were planning to make supper together, and then watch a movie. We had shopped
for the ingredients for our supper, and were about to start preparations, when we heard something that is not
altogether unusual, but is always annoying: Loud bass music. We thought it was a passing car but it continued for quite awhile, somewhat sporadically. At first we thought it was our neighbor, and my fiance went to investigate. He
came back with the news that the loud music was coming from nearly 6 blocks away, and was from a club.
And apparently, they were just getting warmed up.

At first we thought we could just go into the back room and try to ignore it. We put the TV in there, and
decided not to try cooking because the throbbing and thumping noise had killed our appetites; plus it was very
distracting.

So we set up the TV, got some snacks, put in our earphones, and tried to watch some television. but the
volume of music from the club steadily increased, until we were both about to meltdown. In fact, I was the
first to lose it. My fiance suggested we just leave; go anywhere that we couldn't hear that music. But I ran to
the phone and called the noise complaint number. Frantically, while in tears, I pleaded with them to please
do something about the noise. I told them that I was autistic, and that the volume was making me ill. They
assured me that these a**holes had a permit and could continue this unholy racket until 11 pm. My fiance had to rise
early for work the next morning, and I was just plain exhausted. I had been planning on an early night.

But apparently, even though there is a city noise ordinance in place, with a magic piece of paper called a permit,
you can violate it. Even though you are driving people from their homes, ruining their sleep and causing severe
emotional distress, a permit makes that OK.

We ended up driving aimlessly around for awhile. After we had calmed down, we stopped at a supermarket
and bought something cold to eat. Then we hung out in a parking lot, talking. We were both so tired, but
couldn't go home until the magic hour of 11 o'clock had been reached.

What has happened to this world? When people can be driven from their homes, just so some mindless bimbos can test their speaker limits? I am weak from crying, and exhausted from last night. And for all we know, it will happen again. And we are powerless to stop it. My health is not good to begin with, and this cannot go on. But there just doesn't seem to be any recourse for us.

helicopters sometimes really get to me. not all of them really bother me, not like other noises. but if i'm trying to get something done or am listening to the tv or something, it becomes a huge distraction and my mind just won't process helicopter noise and something else at the same time.

occasionally the helicopters will be pretty close, and once or twice i've seen search lights.
living in a city can be so noisy.

so sorry about the club noise.
