I reckon I'm a pretty good lier myself, not that I'd ever need to lie (unless it's about homework  ). I reckon lying is the first step to acting; you have to pretend to act like you're not. I'm told I'm a pretty good actor. I mean, I'm not in Drama class or anything, but often times I can re-enact scenes near perfectly (mostly scenes from Spongebob Squarepants)!

I once just barely got away with lying about what I was (really) doing at school, but I won't go into that...

I'm a good lier. You must know me very well to tell if I'm lying or not. 8)

I am a really bad liar....It takes to much work, makes me very uncomfortable. The only people I lie to are my parents or a boss and it has to be to avoid getting in trouble and be well rehearsed in my head.I cant spontaniously lie.I dislike being lied to (a lot)and I can only do it by justifing it to myself(lieing)that it is only to avoid conflict.

I took acting and drama in school, mainly to gain some stage and crowd experience. I've also worked with a small local theatrical club as an adult. So, yeah, I can lie, but not to hurt someone.
Just don't play poker with me.

I am capable of lying; but I hate doing it.

When I lie, I literally convince myself that what I am saying is true--like an actor convinces themselves that they are their character. That is the only way I am capable of even saying it--if I don't do that, I'll lie so unconvincingly that the person I'm talking to will assume that I'm joking by saying the opposite of what is true.

I can lie; but I'll do just about anything not to have to do so. Lying just gives me a bad feeling--part conscience and part being uncomfortable with having to make the lie "true" to me while I'm saying it.

I'd rather tell the truth or evade the question. Truth has a great value to me as a scientist and as a Christian; and I hate quashing it--even if it is just about someone's hairstyle.

I'm with you Callista (previous reply to this post)
... much the same, I can do it (lie that is) BUT with great difficulty.

It gets harder the better I know the person (or the better the person knows me), I think.
But even telling one to a stranger is hard....

Lying also gives me a bad feeling, in the past, I've had to 'undo' the ones I've told.
Believe me that's not an easy thing, but it is MUCH easier than living with a lie that you've told.

And I can't stand being lied to ... if a friend lies to me  (and IF I spot it as a lie) I get very annoyed / hurt, and usually put distance between us. Like, I'll just not contact that friend for a while - until the bad feelings have subsided or gone.

I don't really lie at all now, lying is too much stress and I don't see the point in it.

I have no clue if I'm good at lying or not because i don't do it often.

I can lie reasonably well, due to being able to keep a straight face, but I try not to resort to lying as much as possible.

In truth, though, I hate lying and I don't think I'm very good at it. However I do have an Aspie sense of twisted logic sometimes, so the justifications for my actions (which I believe in) may look obtuse to others. But that's because I'm not on the same planet, not because I'm trying to deceive.

Or maybe I do lie to myself, somehow, but then how would I tell?

I agree with this completely. When I say I'm a good liar, I mean that I'm the guy you can count on to hold up my end of a practical joke. There's no real harm in telling someone the reason that their tires are all going flat is that the air is wearing out and needs to be changed. Or that, of the two sets of stairs, one is designed for going up and the other is for going down and if you get them mixed up you could fall.

Some people are not good at these kinds of silly things and give the joke away too soon. That's what I meant by a harmless lie. Obviously, you can't play jokes on some people.

It all depends on my emotional state at the time I'm saying something.
If I can keep a straight face, I'm good at lying, but that's kind of hard to do, and sometimes I have to seriously resist laughing and/or crying if I want to get my point across.

I'm crap at lying so I don't bother. Plus even good liars get found out so you may as well just tell the truth. Lying is wrong and pointless.
