I suggest account deletion.

The user clicks on a button, enters their password, and completely deletes their account. There are some websites that allow this, and I would love if this one allowed the same. Staying under the internet radar is a very big thing to me, and if I ever decide to cease coming to this website, I would like to be able to just delete my account so that everything I've said is no longer out for anyone to just look at and see.

At the very least I would like to be able to hide the "find all posts by" option in the profile page from public view. I find it just bizarre almost unsettling that you can do that in the first place.

So yeah, Idk if this is where to post this or not

Cannot be done effectively with the current software as it may cause errors in the database.

Plus, as the post linked by PM indicates - nothing really dies on the Internet anyway.
Something may have gone from WP but it's unlikely to have gone from the Internet.

I'm a huge advocate of the personal right to control information about yourself online, but what you post on a forum is never really yours to begin with. You are a part of a public discussion, and your posts remain relevant long after you leave.

Having the ability to deactivate your account yourself is probably something this site could do well with, so that user profile pages aren't viewable and users can't get PM spam, but I don't ever see the ability to delete your posts being something that's desired or implemented by anyone here.

As cornflake already pointed out, privacy on the Internet is nonexistant. Any privacy you think you have is a complete illusion.

what happened, Jonsi? please let the moderators know (via PM) if someone is giving you a hard time. also if you have suggestions for improvements, we will always listen to those (of course some site-related things are beyond our control, but we can always pass along ideas).

what i mean is that... WP must not completely suck as you keep returning. so maybe put some thought into what would make this a better place for you.
