I'm just curious how this thread will turn out, what arguments will ensue, when the flaming will begin, if I just start a thread with a title "Happy Thanksgiving."

I'm not from the states but production stops today so I get the day off. Yeaah happy f*****g thanksgiving guys finally my legs can get some rest

I am celebrating a heavily modified Thanksgiving with my family. It is based on the potlatch ceremonies of the Pacific Northwest Coast, with many of my own twists. I am the host, with all the powers and responsibilities of a host. Everyone is to give everyone a small gift, much like Kwanzaa.

I'm still waiting on the turkey with anticipation, and my little girl is practically bursting at the seams for wanting to eat the bird!
I can say I am truly thankful for having a church which donated a turkey to us, as well as other members who aren't exactly rolling in cash.

Today when i needed to buy a last minute food item the lady at the grocery store told me to "have a happy holiday"

As an atheist i am offended that she thinks it's a holy day. As an american i am offended that she did not specifically refer to the great and historic feast of our forebears and i suspect a "war on thanksgiving" conspiracy.

Just kidding. I just thought it was odd.

Had delicious turkey that was moist and juicy and flavorful. And some other stuff too.

Yes, the elite of the Pacific Northwest Indian tribes did burn their homes after giving everything away as gifts, in order to demonstrate how they were so wealthy they could be unconcerned with material possessions. This way, they achieve high social standing among their people. It also served to impoverish their culture.
