Social anxiety
Hello everyone-
I am completely new to this forum. I just wanted to ask a couple of questions. I saw a segment on the today show a while back on an experimental medication that they were trailing on a child with AS. The child said the drug made her feel more social and made her want to spend more time with people. Has anyone heard anything about this experimental drug, heard what the drug is, know if they have tried it out on adults? Or does anyone know of any type of medication that helps with social anxiety? I don't know about any of you other aspies, but I often feel like it might be a little easier for me to hang out and talk to people if didn't feel like I was going to have a heart attack or say something really stupid every time I was doing it!
Thanks!
No I never have heard of any drug like this, but I sure would love to find out more about it, since I suffer from Social Phobia and Social Anxiety big time.
But I'd rather not take it because what if it makes me less anxious but still doesn't change the way I socialise, then I just end up making a fool of myself even more without knowing? It would defeat the object. Although, saying that, it might make me more confident in myself, and confidence is the key word. If you do loads of social mistakes but just carry on being social and showing that you have confidence in yourself to not care, then people will still respect you, so maybe I would take the drug.
